2025 Ford Escape Drops Rain Sensing Wipers

Though it was just treated to a rather comprehensive refresh for the 2023 model year that gave the compact crossover a totally new look, the Ford Escape has also received a few other notable updates since then, too. This includes the upcoming 2025 model year, which has thus far brought forth quite a few deletions, with minimal additions. Now, the 2025 Ford Escape is set to lose another feature that was previously present on select trims, too.

2023 Ford Escape

That feature is rain-sensing wipers, which were standard on the ST-Line Elite and Platinum trims for the 2024 model year. However, that feature is no longer available in the 2025 Ford Escape, marking the latest deletion in what is shaping up to be a rather long list of them. As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2025 Ford Escape has also ditched its spare tire – at least in non-hybrid models – which no longer come with that part as standard equipment, and instead, The Blue Oval has gone back to equipping them with the Tire Inflator and Sealant Kit. The spare tire is at least available as an option for models equipped with the 1.5L I-3 EcoBoost and 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost engines, however, and it’s still standard equipment on hybrid models as well.

Those aren’t the only changes present in the 2025 Ford Escape lineup, either. As Ford Authority recently reported, the small crossover is also ditching the ambient lighting that was previously included as standard equipment on the ST-Line Elite and Platinum trim levels for the 2024 model year. Additionally, the 2025 ST-Line and ST-Line Select are also losing their monochromatic painted bodyside cladding, rocker panels, and bumpers in favor of molded-in-color components, though the ST-Line Elite does retain them.

The 2025 Ford Escape is even losing its aluminum foot pedals that were previously present on the ST-Line, but are no longer included in the latest model. All 2025 Ford Escape ST-Line models are ditching the aluminum foot pedals, which were previously included as standard equipment on all ST-Line trims. In addition to these updates, the 2025 Ford Escape is gaining one new exterior color option as well – Space Silver Metallic – which is a no-cost option on all trims and one of six hues available for the new model year.

  1. Prices better drop too. At this point, you’d be in line for a lobotomy if you bought one. Unless $10K+ discounts return. Yes, I’m dreaming, I know.

    1. So we are losing features we like and want, yet the prices still goes up. That is one way of dropping the escape I guess. That is what they did to the edge too.

  2. The hell freezes over before I buy another Ford Escape! Got it Ford?

  3. How cheap can you get? Next will be automatic headlights to be like those Toyotas without their lights on at dusk. Coming soon the Ford Yugo.

  4. Maybe they dropped them because they never really worked right. I have had 3 cars with rain sensing wipers from Ford. They never really work right. With every new Ford I keep hoping maybe this time they will work but no. They are the cone of silence of windshield wipers.

    1. Cone of Silence, haha… You know, when they made the movie – the writer/and/or producer never got the import of the Mel Brooks gag – namely everyone could hear them except Maxwell Smart and his boss…. The humorous thing with the MOVIE was the writers were Clueless.

Not just FORD. The Gag here is that even my GM and KIA cars had rainsense wipers and they never EVER worked right. It is finally dawning on Ford MGMT but GM still thinks they are doing you a big favor by offering them.

  6. This is what Ford does; they cheapen or discontent their products every way they can. Some examples, they got rid of the bedlight of the Ranger back in the early 2000s. On the 2024 Edge Titanium you now get Activex for your money which is fake leather. On the Maverick, they dropped the heated wipers park option which was standard on 2023. They got rid off the keypad which is now dealer installed option. They continue to charge more and provide less content. Plus their QA is middle of the pack with recalls constantly. And don’t get me started on the Chinese crap Nautilus that they no longer build in N.A.

    1. That should have read “decontent” their vehicles.

  7. This has been Ford’s play book for years. Launch a new vehicle with all the bells and whistles, then slowly discontent items that you think the customer won’t notice, without lowering the price.

  8. One of the worst buys in this segment. Cheap interior, less features. 3 cyl overstressed engine lucky to make it past 75k miles. Mazda MX-5, twice the car for less money.
