The refreshed 2025 Ford Explorer debuted in early February, with production scheduled to kick off at the Chicago Assembly plant in May. However, with The Blue Oval keen to conduct extensive quality checks on its refreshed or redesigned models before shipping them to customers and dealers, it wasn’t entirely clear how long we might have to wait for deliveries to begin. As it turns out, that process has already begun.
As Ford Authority reported last month, Ford CEO Jim Farley previously revealed that the refreshed 2025 Ford Explorer was being held as the automaker conducted quality checks on that particular model, and he also revealed that the automaker plans to do precisely the same thing with the upcoming, yet-to-be-revealed 2025 Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick, too. These models were slated to be held back for up to six weeks after production begins to give Ford time to conduct quality checks to ensure that those products don’t wind up being subjected to pricey recalls after deliveries begin.
However, it seems as if that process is now complete, as a quick search at Autotrader reveals that there are a handful of 2025 Ford Explorer models already on dealer lots. That includes an Explorer Active model for sale at Charles Gabus Ford in Des Moines, Iowa, another Explorer Active at Al Packer Ford in West Palm Beach, Florida, and an Explorer ST, also located at Al Packer.
In addition to the typical exterior styling revisions, an interior redo, and the addition of the brand new Ford Digital Experience software, the 2025 Ford Explorer also contains four very cool little Easter eggs worth hunting for, as Ford Authority previously reported. On top of that, much of the 2025 Explorer lineup is also cheaper than the outgoing model, with a couple of exceptions, at least.
We’ll have more on the 2025 Ford Explorer soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Explorer news and comprehensive Ford news updates.

I really wish they offer a non turbo…and or direct injection engine. as a option…..would help with quaility…simplier….some of us dont need all the horsepower….
The 4 banger is underpowered for a heavy SUV at 300 and torque 280 with the turbo. Weighs 4300 lbs up to 4800. Its the 6 cylinder that is 400 hp, driving today you need more hp especially on the highway to merge.
I thought the 2.3L was fine in the ST Line. It’s not fast, but it’s fine for most people.
That said, a 2.5L or so NA motor at 220-250hp, with appropriate gearing, would be a good offering for people that are slow and in my way when I’m driving.
It’s 310 lb ft torque. What are you smoking?
A large stick on screen in the middle of the dash and no buttons or knobs for controls. Yea that will be safe to use when driving the car. I guess I will not buy another Explorer. My 2020 has decent controls which are easy to use. Ford needs some new engineers who know what they are doing. Or new people charge who approved that disaster. I have been a Ford customer for many years but not any more.
When can we expect the Hybrid option to return ?
What about the 2025 Aviator? I ordered on April 3 and a Lincoln Email said production week was June 10. Since then complete silence. The dealer said it should arrive July 7-11. Nope still not here. Lincoln’s website says it is still in production although according to the window sticker it was produced June 16. The concierge knows nothing and that is a shame. So hey Lincoln: Where is my Aviator? How about some accurate information and communication?
… I went over to the listed Al Pecker site. That red ST Explorer, although
having a blue badge and black accents was laughable, the price was even
more comical: $62,000. Granted, my 4 month old F150 Stx doesn’t have
a moon roof, but it was nearly $22,000 less??? EMBRACE AI ladies and
gentleman… the only you’ll enjoy your new car in 10 years.

2025 Explorer vehicles will exhibit inoperative rear windows when the vehicle is in the delayed accessory power mode. This is normal characteristic operation for this vehicle. Refer to WSM, Section 501-11 for a description of the delayed accessory power mode. Do not submit a claim for this condition.
IMHO, only the ACTIVE should have cladding, all the others should be body colour or at least offer the option of a “cladding delete”!
