The refreshed 2025 Ford Explorer debuted back in February, introducing a host of changes to the long-running model. Those include everything from the typical exterior styling revisions to an interior redo that adds more legroom and the brand new Ford Digital Experience software, as Ford Authority “explored” in-depth during a recent media drive event. However, we also discovered four very cool little Easter eggs present in the 2025 Ford Explorer worth hunting for, too.
Detroit Skyline
First up, we have a pretty nifty outline of the Detroit skyline on the driver’s side of the dash, showing off the familiar skyscrapers and other large buildings that make up the big city adjacent to Ford’s world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. Interestingly, this skyline also includes Ford’s Michigan Central Station site off to the left – which just celebrated its grand opening recently – though notably, it isn’t part of the city’s actual skyline, and instead, resides in the Corktown neighborhood.
Chicago Skyline
On the passenger side of the dash, one will also find an outline of the Chicago skyline, which is present given the fact that the Ford Explorer is produced at the Chicago Assembly plant, alongside its more luxurious counterpart, the Lincoln Aviator.
Explorer Silhouettes
Next up, we have a series of Explorer silhouettes, which are located on the passenger side of the center console. Here, we can see the previous five generations of the Explorer lined up together, similar to the Easter egg present in the sixth-generation Ford Bronco on the inside of the fuel filler door. Notably, the first-generation Explorer seen here is modeled after the SUV that starred in Jurassic Park.
2025 Ford Explorer Silhouette
We have yet another silhouette, this one located on the windshield and shows off the current-generation model, completing the set of sorts. Overall, these visual points of interest are something that Ford has been more and more keen to include in its recent models, and if nothing else, they’re a fun way to celebrate the past while also marking the arrival of new and refreshed vehicles.
2025 Ford Explorer Taillight Script
Finally, we have the Explorer script within the housings of each taillamp, which have been redesigned for the 2025 model year refresh. Not only have they gained an extension into the rear end trim, but the graphic inside the main cluster has also been redesigned.
We’ll have much more on the 2025 Ford Explorer soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Explorer news and comprehensive Ford news updates.
Comments
They can do this but have to delete a spare tire on the Escape (or any of the other recent deletions)? Oh come on.
My 2014 Ford Fusion has no spare, and only once in 11 years I had a flat. The filler and air pump did its job. That was at least 30 pounds not carried around, not even a jack. If you want a spare tire, you can buy one for yourself, and have plenty of fun changing a tire!
… owning a fusion, gives us insight into your snotty attitude.
These ‘easter eggs’ cost essentially nothing. I remember when a designer on Mustang put his initials on an underbody CAD stamping design, it was ‘caught’ and never made it to tooling.
You’re right. They cost nothing to produce, but do take some attention to detail for design… and that’s the whole point… to make the explorer feel special.
There’s a Jurassic Park Easter egg too
Quite literally they mentioned this in the article and in the video. Good reading and listening habits severely lacking with this one…
