Bob Tasca III Delivers Another Win For Ford Performance

NHRA drag racer Bob Tasca III has enjoyed his fair share of success behind the wheel of his Ford Mustang funny car over the years, racking up a bunch of wins while also setting a record for the fastest pass in drag racing history for a wheel-driven dragster with a scorching 341.68 mile-per-hour run during Q4 of the non-NHRA sanctioned PRO Superstar Shootout in Florida last year. That success hadn’t really continued into the 2024 season thus far, but Bob Tasca III did manage to deliver a win for Ford Performance this past weekend.

Thus far, the 2024 season had been a bit disappointing for Tasca III and Ford Performance, as that duo have been plagued with abandoned runs and early exits thus far, prompting the team to make some changes as they prepared for this past weekend’s showdown in Norwalk, Ohio. “We took all the go-fast stuff off and put all the go-slow stuff on,” said Tasca about the call made by crew chiefs Todd Okuhara and Aaron Brooks. “We just [had to] get back to going down the racetrack.”

Those changes paid off quickly, as Tasca III qualified fourth with a 3.882 at 329.50 miles-per-hour and made it to the finals of the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge Saturday evening, though he couldn’t quite secure the win there. However, in round one of eliminations, he proceeded to reset the Summit Motorsports Park Funny Car top speed record with a pass of 3.857 at 336.82 mph. Tasca II proceeded to beat Paul Lee in the second round with a 3.92-second pass, blowing by Austin Prock in the semi-finals, and then claimed the win against three-time champion Ron Capps in the finale. It was enough to hold onto the second spot in the championship race as well, with Tasca III trailing only Prock at the moment.

“Bob Tasca III and the Tasca Racing team have demonstrated incredible perseverance and determination this season and his win at Summit Motorsports Park is a well-deserved triumph,” said Fletch Carter, Ford Customer Service Division, U.S. Sales Manager. “Those qualities are why we are so proud to have Bob as an ambassador. Motorcraft Quick Lane is thrilled to be part of this victory and we look forward to many more with this momentum.”
