Conan O’Brien Did Not Impress Lisa Kudrow With His Ford Taurus SHO

It’s been a few years since Conan O’Brien departed cable TV after a long and successful run as a late night talk show host, but the comedian continues to churn out content via YouTube. O’Brien also happens to be a fan of cheap cars – of which he owned quite a few when he first moved to Los Angeles as a budding star, and famously, he showed off his beloved Ford Taurus SHO years ago, calling it one of his “prized possessions.” However, as many of us car enthusiasts are well aware, not everyone shares our enthusiasm for certain types of vehicles.

Recently, actress Lisa Kudrow – who happened to have dated O’Brien for a few years previously – stopped by to have a chat, which was largely centered around the late Matthew Perry, who starred alongside her on the mega popular TV Show Friends. However, the two also touched on the subject of the cars that O’Brien owned while the two were dating, including his Ford Taurus SHO. “He was so excited about the Ford Taurus,” Kudrow said sarcastically, adding “I didn’t understand that.”

As O’Brien explains, after years of tooling around in beaters, he was excited to finally be able to go out and buy a new Taurus. He was also excited to show it to Kudrow, so he drove over to her house expecting her to be equally thrilled with the purchase. However, that wasn’t exactly the case. O’Brien kept telling her that it was a fast car, repeatedly calling it a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” adding that “it’s a Ford Taurus on the outside, but it’s got an incredible engine and a stick shift.”

Funny enough, O’Brien also admits that he didn’t know how to drive a car with a manual transmission at the time, but he bought it because “that’s what men do,” according to Kudrow. “You didn’t get some wimpy transmission,” she adds, at which point O’Brien says “I wanted full control over every inch of my Ford Taurus.” It’s humorous clip, even though it throws a bit of shade at the Ford Taurus SHO in general. However, as we’ve seen recently, these cars are quickly becoming collector’s items, regardless.

  1. I remember it like it was yesterday, my then 18-year-old son Brian is all excited about picking up his first real sports car I believe it was a ’90s Taurus s h o. My dude didn’t even know how to drive stick shift but he was so proud that then knew how to drive. So he drove my car home while I drove the stick shift and he just couldn’t wait to get started on that thing .

Time in life tends to get in everybody’s way of having fun especially with their four-wheel companions and like several of the cars brand his head and his drag racing quest the Taurus went the way of the West to get something bigger newer and faster. But he sent me this clip today and reading it I see why Conan kept his and also why Brian intends to fully buy another SHO. If God is good and I’m better than blessed I will actually help him get this next car because I know how much it means to him. I know how much he means to me… THIIIIIIIIS MUCH👍🏽🫂💪🏾
