Ford Motor Company has filed to trademark “Ford Basecamp” with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), Ford Authority has learned.
Filed on December 4th, 2023 under serial number 42023531091, this application contains the goods and services description of “land motor vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles, pickup trucks, electric cars, sport utility vehicles, roof platforms, automobile accessory packages including nudge bars, vehicle bonnet protectors, vehicle light bars, vehicle awnings, vehicle roof racks, vehicle snorkels and tow bars sold as a unit.”
The Ford Authority Take
This new patent filing for Ford Basecamp revives a name that we last saw back in 2018, when the automaker debuted its Ford Ranger Base Camp concept at that year’s SEMA Show. That one-off, custom pickup was designed to show off the many parts and accessories customers can purchase for the mid-size pickup from The Blue Oval itself, as well as the burgeoning aftermarket.
The Ford Ranger Base Camp is equipped with a pretty vast array of upgrades that include a Ford Performance differential cover and skid plates, a BDS upper control arm kit, Fox suspension leveling kit and off-road shocks, Warn bumpers with integrated Rigid LED lighting, side steps, a Warn ZEON 10k winch, 18-inch wheels, BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain tires, a bed rack, roof basket, tent, spare fuel and water tanks, a Ford Performance cat-back exhaust, and a snorkel.
Thus, it makes perfect sense to assume that the Ford Basecamp trademark filing signals the arrival of a new type of off-road focused camping rig of sorts, which have become all the rage in recent years. Though this trademark was filed in the Philippines, it’s also worth noting that oftentimes, trademarks filed in one market tend to make their way to other parts of the world – meaning that we could see similar fillings for Ford Basecamp in other countries soon, too.
