Ford BlueCruise Reaches Another Milestone At 415K Vehicles

Since it originally launched a few years ago, Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving assistance feature has steadily grown in popularity, landing in more and more vehicles and also enjoying a tremendous boost in terms of its sheer number of subscribers and users. In fact, Ford BlueCruise users have covered more than 200 million miles with the feature activated so far – compared to just 70 million a year prior. Now, BlueCruise has reached yet another milestone as its expansion continues.

In its Q2 earnings report, Ford noted that BlueCruise is now available in more than 415,000 vehicles on the road in the U.S., which also happens to be 25 percent more than Q1 of this same year. This gives even more customers the chance to utilize BlueCruise, and perhaps subscribe to the service if they deem it worth the cost.

Additionally, Ford continues to update BlueCruise, with the most recent version of this software – 1.3 – beginning to roll out to Ford Mustang Mach-E customers as we speak. However, that comes after a year-long delay, which the automaker notes was due to the complexity of the update, as well as the fact that it contains a “large package that requires several sequential updates to multiple system modules within the vehicle, and as a result takes multiple updates to successfully deliver the package.”

As Ford Authority previously reported, BlueCruise 1.3 enables customers to stay engaged in hands-free mode for longer durations, as well as when navigating curves and narrow lanes. It also adds to the existing Lane Change Assist feature by allowing users to change lanes by simply tapping the turn signal, and once the path is clear, In-Lane Repositioning keeps the vehicle in its lane while subtly shifting its position away from vehicles in adjacent lanes.

  1. You lie. They aren’t rolling anything out. We 1.0 users have been waiting 3 years and in the meantime Ford went from 1.0 to. 1.1 to 1.2 to 1.3 to now 1.4. and they said all along they were updating but nobody got anything.
They even hired a new software developer manager and as far as I can tell he is the only one getting the updates.
We paid Ford thousands for this feature and are not getting any updates for it.
Ford is learning it’s a lot easier being a software company making a car than a car company making software.

    2. I agree 100%!!! I have a 23 Lincoln Corsair GT with BlueCruise which I love, but I will absolutely not pay for the subscription when the 2-year trial is over, unless I get (at least) annual software updates. I suspect that Ford’s BC enrollment rate will go down when everyone’s trial is over, in the absence of any software updates.

  2. I have received the BC 1.3 and love it. I have also heard many others have received the update as well. Maybe StarLord needs to have a dealership check out their software updates & make sure all have been installed correctly. I owned 2 MachE’s the GT has 1.3 the Premium shows it’s in the queue and will install in the coming weeks.
