Back in January, Consumer Reports released its latest list of the most popular vehicles on the market, which it derives from its own website traffic – or more specifically, which model pages visitors to the site head to the most. The most searched-for vehicles in this case represent the ones that have the most consumer interest in the organization’s mind, and true to form, most of them have high overall scores after performing well in road tests, coupled with an array of standard safety features, solid crash test results, and good reliability scores. The Ford Escape was among the models that made the cut then, and now, it has done so once again.
In its latest list of the most popular vehicles on the market, Consumer Reports highlighted the top 10 most visited model pages on its site, and the Ford Escape ranked seventh among that group – behind the Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Crosstrek, Subaru Outback, and Toyota Highlander, while the Toyota Camry, Mazda CX-5, and Hyundai Tucson rounded out the rest of the pack.
The Ford Escape actually only received an overall score of 59 out of 100 possible points from Consumer Reports, along with average predicted reliability and below average predicted owner satisfaction scores. However, that clearly hasn’t impacted its popularity much with visitors to its site, regardless.
What’s particularly interesting is the fact that the Ford Escape has received plenty of praise from Consumer Reports, even with select models ranking on its list of vehicles to avoid. In fact, over the past few months, the Escape PHEV has ranked as one of the most satisfying compact crossovers on the market, the hybrid model landed on its list of the best electrified options priced between $35,000 and $45,000, and the 2021 Ford Escape was also highlighted as one of the most popular used vehicles of 2024.
We’ll have more on the Escape soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Escape news and non-stop Ford news coverage.

They might look but they surely don’t buy. It’s a terrible value and has been this whole generation.
Won’t be for long with all of Farley’s decontenting.
I have a 23 ST-Line. I like the looks, tech, handling, power with the 2.0L and the fuel economy. 32mpg on highway trips and 28.4mpg for the entire life of it with 27000 miles on the clock!
