Though it was never what anyone might consider “cheap” to acquire, the modern-day Ford GT has done nothing but appreciate over the past several years, to the point where it’s now a heavily coveted collectible out of the financial reach of most. However, given its rarity, prominence, and popularity, it’s hard to believe that some owners would neglect their Ford GT – as many have stashed them away with the hopes of reaping a big financial reward later on.
That isn’t always the case, as one Ford GT was left sitting outside for five years until its original owner’s family had it brought back to life roughly a year ago, however. Now, we have another case of a poor, neglected 2006 Ford GT, which was recently discovered by The Cultivated Collector founder Matthew Ivanhoe and VinWiki founder Ed Bolian in Georgia, as we can see in this recent and rather fascinating video.
The duo were obviously rather excited to see this crusty, dusty old Ford GT, which had been sitting in a garage for around 15 years, undisturbed. However, they were forced to don hazmat suits just to check it out, given the presence of a large amount of mold inside the cabin, in addition to layers of dust that had accumulated everywhere. Luckily, Ivanhoe and Bolian managed to rescue the poor, neglected Ford GT from its long-term storage spot, and it even moved under its own power, to boot.
Now, the two are taking their latest acquisition to DC MotorWerks, where it will receive a good scrubbing before it moves on to a new owner. It’s a solid outcome for a car that very well could have continued to sit and rot for an undetermined amount of time, perhaps one day being discovered by an eager barn hunter – when it might be in far worse condition than it is now.

COOL barn find!!
Unreal. Who buys a 150k+ car, that almost from day one, and just stashes it away in a creaky old barn. The definition of a wealthy eccentric I guess. Glad the GT was unearthed and will hopefully live to scorch some pavement soon.
Sure wish someone would save my 1967 mustang coup. It was stolen from me 22 yrs ago I’m North Carolina It was found in Homosassa Florida. It was near mint when it was stolen now it’s no where near it .. can’t afford to put it back as I live check to check ..
I never cease to be amazed at people buying cars and then leaving them unused or uncared for . Any car at any price should be used or at least cared for.
