We certainly see our fair share of shocking vehicular crashes on a daily basis, whether that be via social media, the news, or even sometimes a bit too close for comfort while out on the roads. With the rise of distracted drivers in recent years – many of whom are fiddling with their smartphones or infotainment systems instead of keeping their eyes on the road ahead – this problem only seems to be getting worse, and it’s precisely what led to this horrific crashing involving a Ford Maverick recently.

There aren’t any details provided pertaining to this crash, but the footage speaks volumes, regardless. Here, we can see a line of traffic moving slowly, which one person driving an another, larger truck doesn’t seem to notice. Rather, they keep barreling toward that nearly stopped line of traffic at high speed, at which point the pickup smashes into the rear of a poor Ford Maverick, sending it flipping end over end in violent fashion.
Amazingly, the red car in front of the Ford Maverick sees what’s happening and moves out of the way before the tumbling pickup lands, and another car behind the speeding truck manages to swerve out of the way before it’s involved in a pileup. Regardless, this type of accident provides us with a great reason why the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) recently mandated that automatic emergency braking be installed in all new all passenger cars and light trucks by September 2029, as that tech would have likely prevented this terrible crash from occurring in the first place.
