Ford Mustang Sales Up 28 Percent To Beat Out Rivals During Q2 2024

Ford Mustang sales increased in the United States and Mexico during the second quarter of 2024, and recorded 47 deliveries in Brazil, 7 in Argentina, and 18 in Colombia.

Ford Mustang Sales - Q2 2024 - United States

In the United States, Ford Mustang deliveries totaled 13,737 units in Q2 2024, an increase of about 28 percent compared to 10,760 units sold in Q2 2023.

In the first six months of the year, Mustang sales increased about 8 percent to 27,444 units.

Ford Mustang Sales - Q2 2024 - Canada

In Canada, Ford Mustang deliveries totaled 924 units in Q2 2024.

In the first six months of the year, Mustang sales totaled 1,827 units.

Ford Mustang Sales - Q2 2024 - Mexico

In Mexico, Ford Mustang deliveries totaled 287 units in Q2 2024, an increase of about 299 percent compared to 72 units sold in Q2 2023.

In the first six months of the year, Mustang sales increased about 227 percent to 565 units.

In Brazil, Ford Mustang deliveries totaled 47 units in Q2 2024, a decrease of about 60 percent compared to 117 units sold in Q2 2023.

In the first six months of the year, Mustang sales decreased about 58 percent to 91 units.

In Argentina, Ford Mustang deliveries totaled 7 units in Q2 2024, a decrease of about 89 percent compared to 62 units sold in Q2 2023.

In the first six months of the year, Mustang sales decreased about 80 percent to 22 units.

In Colombia, Ford Mustang deliveries totaled 35 units in Q2 2024, an increase of about 119 percent compared to 16 units sold in Q2 2023.

In the first six months of the year, Mustang sales increased about 38 percent to 40 units.

Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Sales of the Ford Mustang (see running Ford Mustang sales) jumped 28 percent year-over-year to 13,737 units during Q2 2024, remaining at the top from the previous quarter when ranked by sales volume to again beat out discontinued rivals.

The discontinued Dodge Challenger remained in second place with an 11 percent slip to 11,480 units, followed by the discontinued Chevy Camaro (see running Chevy Camaro sales) in third with an 82 percent drop in sales for just 1,732 deliveries as any remaining inventory gets sold off.

Sales Numbers - Two-Door Muscle Cars - Q2 2024 - USA

From a segment share standpoint, the Mustang again earned a dominating 51 percent share, up 19 percentage points year-over-year, to account for over half of all sales here. The Challenger posted a 43 percent segment share, up four percentage points, while the Camaro held a six percent share, down 23 percentage points.

Sales of two-door muscle cars contracted 19 percent for 26,949 deliveries during Q2 2024, meaning Mustang sales significantly outperformed the segment average.

The Mustang claimed a 39 percent segment share in this expanded space of six entries, remaining solidly at the top.

Sales of mainstream two-door sports cars were down 13 percent to 35,616 units during Q2 2024, meaning Mustang sales here also significantly outperformed the segment average in this expanded space.

The Ford Authority Take

Ford Mustang sales continued an ongoing upward trajectory as the only remaining pony car among crosstown rivals, commanding over half of its small, diminishing segment. The all-new 2024 Ford Mustang continues to sell while its two competitors have thrown in the towel.

The Chevy Camaro is no longer in production, while GM President Mark Reuss sees the next-gen Camaro as an EV pony car.

Dodge Challenger production ended as well, with the model to be indirectly replaced by the first-ever 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona.

Of course, Ford already has an EV answer, somewhat, in the form of the Ford Mustang Mach-E. And Ford CEO Jim Farley says a Ford Mustang sedan could happen at some point, reviving previous rumors.
