Among the many studies it releases each year, J.D. Power’s U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study is designed to specifically measure owner satisfaction with new-vehicle design and performance. In that particular study, Ford ranked above the mass market segment average in 2022, and managed to repeat that performance in 2023, though it tumbled rather far in the just-released 2024 version of the study – coming in below the industry average, in fact. However, it still managed to secure a big win, at least, as it pertains to the Ford Super Duty lineup.
The Ford Super Duty topped the large heavy-duty segment of the 2024 J.D. Power U.S. APEAL Study, beating out its pair of rivals in the process – the Chevrolet Silverado HD lineup, as well as the Ram 2500 and 3500. However, it’s just the latest win for the Ford Super Duty, which also took home 2024 North American Truck of the Year honors, most recently.
Each year, the APEAL Study measures owners’ emotional attachment and level of excitement with their new vehicle by asking the owners of those vehicles to consider 37 attributes, ranging from the sense of comfort they feel when climbing into the driver’s seat to their exhilaration when they step on the accelerator. Afterward, the responses to queries about these attributes are aggregated to compute an overall APEAL Index score.
“For the people, businesses, first responders and communities that build America, Super Duty is more than a truck. It’s a tool they rely on to get the job done,” said Andrew Kernahan, Super Duty chief program engineer. “There’s no better recognition than one that comes from the people using the truck every day. We are honored and proud to serve our Ford Pro customers with a Built Ford Tough truck that helps to keep our country moving forward.”
