Free 2007 Ford Focus Appears To Be A Good Deal: Video

YouTuber John Ross from the channel WatchJRGo certainly has his fair share of experience with problematic Blue Oval vehicles, if nothing else. Ross’ girlfriend owns a 2015 Ford Focus equipped with the infamous Powershift transmission that he’s been trying to sort out for some time now, and he also recently purchased a wrecked 2017 Ford Fusion Energi that he wound up parting out in an attempt to make a profit. Now, Ross is back with yet another interesting vehicular acquisition to share.

Free 2007 Ford Focus Transmission

This time around, that vehicle is a 2007 Ford Focus that Ross picked up for the paltry sum of nothing, as it was a “throw in” with an $800 Infiniti that he purchased. Given that information, one might expect it to be well, mostly useless and without value, but somewhat shockingly, that doesn’t quite seem to be the case once he starts diving into the car.

The Ford Focus does need some work, as one might imagine, but it’s nothing terribly serious. The to-do list includes fixing a loose radiator, and reattaching disconnected shift cables – at least at first. The person that previously owned the car believed the clutch was shot, but that doesn’t appear to be the case, and the engine is in solid running condition as well.

Upon further inspection, Ross discovers that the shifter won’t go into gear, and he finds that the problem doesn’t stem from the shift cables. Thus, he proceeds to gain access to the top of the gearbox and removes the shifter, only to find some leaks and broken plastic pieces. The transmission oil plug was completely gone, and the entire shifter assembly looks to be toast as well. However, replacing it will only set Ross back $100 – meaning that this free Focus may soon represent one heck of a bargain.

  1. Ross check the rubber bushing under the center console, that the gear shifter pivots on. When the rubber deteriorate and crumble shifter get sloppy and wont engage. I bought rubber hose at auto Store and cut 2 new bushing. With 225K it shift like new. 07 Focus ZX3 owner.

This really would have been a good deal had it actually been a 2017.
