Free 2007 Ford Focus Back On Road After Easy Fixes: Video

After spending quite a bit of time trying to fix his girlfriend’s Ford Focus Powershift transmission woes and parting out a wrecked Ford Fusion Energi recently, YouTuber John Ross from the channel WatchJRGo recently acquired a 2007 Ford Focus for free as a throw-in vehicle of sorts with another purchase. After a little diagnosing, it didn’t seem like that particular car was going to be terribly difficult to fix and get back on the road, however, and that turned out to be the case after all.

As Ross previously discovered, the shifter assembly in his Ford Focus was in pretty awful shape and appeared to be the cause of the car’s troubles, which prompted him to purchase a new unit to replace it. That only set Ross back a reasonable $190 brand new from a Ford dealer, and even though he believes the main bushing was the chief culprit, it just makes sense to go ahead and replace the entire assembly in this case and start fresh.

Installing the new part is pretty easy as well, as Ross scrapes off all the old gunk that was left behind and just bolts the new shifter assembly in place. After that’s complete, he simply reconnects everything, replaces the old transmission fluid for good measure, and the battery that was in the car is still good enough to start it right it up, following a recharge.

Amazingly, during the initial test drive after all this work is done, the Ford Focus drives pretty darn well, and there aren’t even any warning lights illuminated. The sunroof even works, though the tires are old and need to be replaced, but given the fact that Ross has a whopping $200 or so in it, this Focus might just be the bargain of the year so far.
