Ford Motor Company has filed a patent for a home security inspection technology that may be used in future Ford vehicles, Ford Authority has learned.
The patent was filed on January 5th, 2023, published on July 11th, 2024, and assigned serial number 0233059.
The Ford Authority Take
Ford has explored the concept of various types of security systems via several recent patents, with filings for ideas such as a drone based security service, a vehicle-to-vehicle security system, an autonomous foot chase system, and a system capable of communicating with police during traffic stops, to name just a few. Now, this newly published patent keeps that theme going with another new idea – this time, for a vehicle-based home security inspection technology that may be used in future Ford vehicles, too.
The concept here is to provide a simpler way for police to perform a “vacation check,” which is a common thing when people are away from their homes for days or weeks at a time. This is typically when criminals like to break into homes and steal things, given the fact that they don’t have to worry about whether or not the homeowners or residents are present at the time. The concept here is to make vacation checks a bit easier for police to perform, too.
To do so, police vehicles may utilize an automated guidance system that could remotely activate video monitoring and a checklist of items that should be looked at during these routine actions, using the officer’s body camera as well. Once the officer enters the geofenced area around the home, the cameras would automatically activate, while a mobile device would display a checklist of things for the officer to look for – potentially making it simpler and more straightforward.

Stop it
With all these tech patents reported in here almost daily, vehicles would replace your house. Ford needs to spend that money elsewhere, like maybe on additional vehicles to its lineup since it now has HUGE gaps and would never survive Great Recession 2.0.
