Here’s An Exterior Overview Of The Ford Maverick: Video

Over the past few months, Ford Authority has spotted a host of 2025 Ford Maverick prototypes out testing – most recently, completely uncovered – giving us a good look at the compact pickup’s forthcoming refresh. However, there is one particular section of the 2025 Ford Maverick that many aren’t fans of – the front end – and in a recent Ford Authority poll, most of our readers indicated that they don’t like that updated look. Regardless, while we await the full reveal of the refreshed Maverick, Ford Authority recently took a much closer look at the exterior design of the existing model.

Starting up front, we get a good look at the more traditional, upright, boxy appearance of the existing Ford Maverick, which has endeared it to plenty of shoppers since its debut for the 2022 model year. Overall, its appearance is far more truck-like than its sole competitor, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, with some familiar styling cues such as its C-clamp headlights, as well as a muscular-looking hood that gives it a more rugged appearance.

The side profile of the Ford Maverick is also upright and boxy with a traditional truck appearance, though a closer look at where the rear portion of the cab transitions into the bed reveals that this is no body on frame model – but rather, a unibody. It’s a simple, clean, and honest design, which is appealing to truck fans in general, as well as those that  prefer such a thing over the heavily (and perhaps overstyled) Santa Cruz.

This theme continues in the rear with a simple design, one that includes an offset license plate mounting point to make room for the tow hitch in the center. There are some lines present in the tailgate, which adds some visual interest there, helping to break up the flat appearance. Overall, it’s easy to see why so many people are fans of the Ford Maverick, and it’ll be interesting to see if The Blue Oval can keep that same energy with the somewhat controversial 2025 redesign.
