Here’s What We Know And Expect From The 2025 Ford Maverick

The refreshed 2025 Ford Maverick is waiting in the wings for its reveal on August 1st, 2024, just a few short days away. In the meantime, Ford Authority outlines everything we know and expect from the wildly popular compact pickup to tide you over until the veil is officially pulled off the forthcoming Maverick.

Hybrid AWD

The biggest news is that the 2025 Ford Maverick will likely be offered with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) hybrid variant in its lineup. Ford Authority spotted a prototype undergoing testing with a few obvious tells: the AWD and Hybrid badges affixed to its tailgate. Currently, the 2024 Maverick hybrid is exclusively offered with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) drivetrain, but it’s worth noting that the Ford Escape – which shares the C2 platform with the Maverick – has been offered with a hybrid AWD option for several model years now.

Updated Tech

Inside, the 2025 Ford Maverick is set to receive the 13.2-inch Sync 4 touchscreen already utilized by the 2024 Ford Mustang and Ford Escape, with a new screen and button layout. It’s not clear if this screen will be standard across all Maverick trims, or if it will be reserved for the higher-tiered models in the lineup. It’s worth noting that the Maverick’s production mate, the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport, will seemingly also feature the same 13.2-inch screen. Other tech updates include the addition of a 360-degree camera, allowing for a bird’s eye view of the pickup in certain scenarios, such as backing out of a parking space.

Special Performance Model

The 2025 Ford Maverick sports a revised front fascia with a new bumper and headlight design. We spotted a couple of sporty-looking Lariat models wearing unique bodywork and wheels as well, which could indicate that a performance-focused model is on its way. Alternatively, these features could be part of an optional appearance package.

Specifically, these models feature a revamped front end design with new headlights, a grille with vertical slats, and a blacked-out Blue Oval badge. Also note the blocky bumper covers underneath that feature fog lamps, along with large openings that seem designed to help the pickup breathe easier. Moving down the sides, the sporty Maverick features body-color painted ground effects, coupled with some very unique black-painted wheels that seem to be inspired by vintage motorsports “turbofan” rollers.

New Cosmetic And Functional Upgrades

Outside, the Maverick is getting a few new colors to its lineup, such as Eruption Green. The Black Appearance Package will stay on the options list, along with the Tremor Off-Road Package, although we spotted an example with a set of Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT tires rather than the Falken Wildpeak A/T tires that are currently bundled with the package.
