After getting off to a slow start due to some quality issues discovered early in the process, production of the refreshed 2023 Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair at the Louisville Assembly plant ramped up rather quickly. However, in the first half of 2024, both of those small crossovers have experienced their fair share of ups and downs in terms of output, which isn’t uncommon in the automotive world. The Lincoln Corsair, specifically, has faced some big swings in production through H1 2024, and that trend continued in June as well.
According to FoMoCo’s June sales report, Lincoln Corsair production grew from 1,989 units in May to 3,161 last month, which is an increase of 1,172 units or nearly 60 percent. That’s a steep gain, and a rather unusual one in a month when production of most Blue Oval models decreased. In fact, that was true of the Escape, as production of that model came in at 16,571 units in June, which represents a month-over-month drop of 3,213 units, or just over 16 percent compared to May.
Lincoln Corsair production had previously been on the rise since remaining largely flat in January at 3,035 units, which was an ever-so-slight decrease of just 28 units month-over-month, or a mere 0.9 percent versus December. In February, Lincoln Corsair production totaled 3,151 units, which was 116 units or around 3.8 percent higher than January’s total, and in March, output increased by 369 units or nearly 12 percent to 3,520.
Corsair production 2,060 units in April, which was a rather substantial 1,460 units or 41 percent less than March’s total of 3,520. However, things didn’t improve in May, as Corsair production declined yet again. That trend certainly didn’t last long, and it’ll be interesting to see how production of the luxurious crossover pans out over the second half of the 2024 calendar year.
