Lincoln Navigator Headed To Australia Via Conversion Company

In right-hand drive markets like Australia, automakers from other parts of the world must make a pretty major commitment to convert vehicles for sale there, which is why many don’t. However, FoMoCo offers quite a few right-hand drive vehicles in Australia already, most recently adding the Ford F-150 to that list – though the automaker does enlist a third-party company to complete the actual RHD conversion. Now, the Lincoln Navigator is also available Down Under, too.

This time around, it doesn’t seem as if The Blue Oval is involved in importing the Lincoln Navigator into Australia, nor is it completing the RHD conversion on the big SUV, either. Rather, that’s being handled by a company called Autogroup International, which is no stranger to this process. It is currently offering three versions of the Navigator as well – the Premiere, Reserve, and Black Label, in regular or elongated L configuration, and the latter two even retain their BlueCruise functionality, it seems.

The Black Label does include a variety of special perks, such as complimentary car washes, an extended maintenance plan, 22-inch wheels, and access to unique interior color and trim packages, along with with themes such as Chalet, Yacht Club, Invitation, and Central Park. As is the case in the U.S., power comes from the twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, which in this guise produces 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque and is mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission.

Having already completed 4,500 right-hand drive conversions, Autogroup International has essentially perfected that process, and uses things like 3D digitizing and reverse engineering to ensure that it does so without messing up the OEM experience – or violating unique Australian road laws. As far as pricing goes, well, the company hasn’t shared that bit of information, but these types of conversions are rarely cheap. However, for those that reside in Australia and want a big, luxurious SUV, it’s one of very few ways to go.
