Fluctuations in automotive production are nothing unusual, but they do provide us with a bit of interesting information, regardless. This is especially true for most Ford models through the first half of 2024, as pretty much every vehicle in the current Blue Oval lineup has experienced a lot of ups and downs over that time period. At the Kentucky Truck plant, for example, Ford Super Duty production increased early in the year before declining recently – which is also the case for the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.
According to Ford’s June sales report, Super Duty production at the Kentucky plant declined to 28,892 units last month, which is 2,493 units or around eight percent fewer than May. At the same time, Expedition output dropped for the third straight month, most recently coming in at 6,876 units in June, which is 1,846 units or around 22 percent less than May. Thus, it’s not terribly surprising that the Lincoln Navigator followed suit.
In June, the Kentucky Truck plant built 1,860 Lincoln Navigator SUVs, which is 434 units or around 19 percent less than May’s total of 2,294 units. Prior to the that, however, the Navigator was on an upward trend that started in April, when production increased by 225 units or right at 14 percent versus March’s total of 1,614. Before that point, Navigator production had remained mostly flat through the first quarter of the 2024 calendar year.
Meanwhile, both the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition are set to receive a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year, as Ford Authority has covered extensively in recent months. Along with revised styling inside and out, that update is expected to bring about changes including a rear wiper blade relocation for the Navigator, plus a possible split liftgate, the addition of a full-width light bar up front, 24-inch wheels, and a coast-to-coast display inside the cabin.
We’ll have more production numbers to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Lincoln news, Lincoln Navigator news, and continuous Ford news coverage.
Comment
Under the brilliant leadership of Dianne Craig, Lincoln Navigator sales are only 6,550 units from Jan 1 – June 30, 2024, which is down from the 8,858 units sold in the first 6 months of 2023, Lincoln Navigator sales have been declining for years, given 2024’s dismal sales so far, there is no way this vehicle is profitable regardless of what Ford Motor Co. claims, it will interesting to see sales results for the rest of 2024.
