The Ford Transit – already one of the top-selling vans in pretty much every market it’s sold – launched in Brazil as part of the arrival of Ford Pro in the South American country a little over a year ago, and has since enjoyed tremendous success there, too. Prior to that, Ford launched its digital subscription car service dubbed Ford Go in Brazil back in 2021, which takes place entirely online and allows customers to drive a new vehicle each year, for a fixed monthly cost that is all-inclusive and includes insurance, taxes, maintenance, and other ownership-related expenses. Now, one company has taken advantage of both of these products.
That company is Murici Logistica, which is the largest e-commerce logistics operator in Brazil. The company has acquired 354 Ford Transit vans from Ford Go, which will be used for its last-mile delivery services across the entire country. Murici Logistica has already taken delivery of 27 Ford Transit vans, with the rest expected to follow by the end of 2024. Currently, it operates in multiple cities across Brazil and has more than 3,500 vehicles in its fleet, delivering around 5.5 million packages each month.
“Since 2020, the e-commerce sector has been in a very big expansion,” said Luiz Henrique Arida, CFO of Murici Transportes. “It is a different market, where our customers have an average growth of 30 percent each quarter. The subscription system gives us speed of expansion to keep up with the needs of our customers without burdening the company. It is the best model for the market where we operate.”
When it first launched in Brazil, Ford Go was available for select versions of the Ford Ranger and Territory, and was quite popular from the get-go. The same can be said of the Ford Transit, which enjoyed a successful launch in the country earlier this year – quickly becoming the fastest-growing commercial van in Brazil – success that has been replicated by the all-electric E-Transit, too.
We’ll have more on the Transit soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Transit news and ongoing Ford news coverage.
