While some NASCAR Ford Drivers have turned their seasons around, others have yet to shake their bad luck. Heading to the Brickyard – that is, Indianapolis Motor Speedway – this weekend, some of the Blue Oval’s racers aren’t looking so hot, but that doesn’t mean it’s all bad news for the Ford Mustang Dark Horse racers.
According to the latest Power Rankings, the NASCAR Ford drivers aren’t at the top of the list, and haven’t been all year. Unsurprisingly, Ryan Blaney leads The Blue Oval in this week’s rankings. He’s fresh off a win in the No. 12 Mustang at Pocono, his second of the year and 12th of his career. He’s fifth ahead of Indy, though it’s not his best track.
To find the next NASCAR Ford driver, take a look all the way down in 10th. Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 6 Mustang, has cooled off in recent weeks before pulling off a top 10 at Pocono. He is the most recent winner on the Indy Oval among active drivers, though.
Chris Buescher, driver of the No. 17 Mustang, is ranked 12th, but he has an average finish of 18.8 at Indy. Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 NASCAR Ford, tails him in 13th place, and while he has a great track record on the Indy Oval, he has yet to earn a win on the famous course. He’s also struggled to get a top 10 in recent weeks, so that trend could continue.
Chase Briscoe, driver of the No. 14 Mustang, finally landed himself a spot in this week’s Power Rankings, slotting in 16th. He’s never raced the Indy Oval in a Cup car, but has two top 10s on the track in the Xfinity Series. Austin Cindric’s No. 2 NASCAR Ford team is ranked 18th, and Josh Berry, driver of the No. 4 Mustang, is ranked 19th, but considering the fact that he’s not stellar on oval tracks larger than two miles, Berry fans may not want to get their hopes up.
The Brickyard 400 is scheduled for July 21st, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. ET.

I would ask is it really power that is at issue? If it is, with today’s technology, shouldn’t this be relatively easy to figure out and mitigate? The only other major factor would be driver skill.
I think you misunderstand “Power Rankings.” It has nothing to do with vehicle power, but it’s rather a “hot or not” list.
