Racing against rain and a field packed with Chevys and a handful of Toyotas, unfortunately, the NASCAR Ford Truck teams didn’t fare all that well at Pocono Raceway on Friday, July 12th, 2024. In fact, only one Ford F-150 race truck ended up inside the top 10, while the rest finished quite low in the standings.
The sole F-150 inside the top 10 was the No. 88 NASCAR Ford of Matt Crafton, who was credited with an eighth-place finish after the skies opened up and drenched the “Tricky Triangle.” The sanctioning body at first attempted to wait the storm out, turning the field of trucks loose on track for exactly one lap before the rain became too substantial to overcome. The race was called at 8:20 p.m. due to impending darkness, just seven laps shy of completion.
Meanwhile, the No. 99 Ford F-150 of Ben Rhodes was the only other Blue Oval racer to finish inside the top 10, finishing 18th. The remaining eight NASCAR Ford trucks finished in the back half of the field, including the No. 98 F-150 of Ty Majeski, who finished two laps down in 31st. Majeski is currently fourth in the overall points standings, 128 points behind leader Christian Eckes, who drives the No. 19 Chevy Silverado RST. Rhodes, meanwhile, is ninth, the only other F-150 racer inside the top 10 in points.
So far, Ford has not claimed a Truck Series victory in 2024. Corey Heim, driver of the No. 11 Toyota TRD Tundra, was declared winner at Pocono.
