Older Ford Mustang Mach-E EVs Will Get BlueCruise 1.3 Soon

As Ford Authority reported just over one year ago, the latest version of the automaker’s hands-free highway driving assist feature – BlueCruise 1.3 – was previously set to begin rolling out in the Ford Mustang Mach-E starting last summer. However, that hasn’t yet happened, and many Ford Mustang Mach-E owners have instead been left waiting, wondering exactly when this update might take place. Now, the automaker itself has addressed that particular topic.

In a recent post at Mach-E Forum, FoMoCo recognized that this update has taken longer to roll out than expected, noting that it’s “complex,” as well as a “large package that requires several sequential updates to multiple system modules within the vehicle, and as a result takes multiple updates to successfully deliver the package.” As such, the automaker “made the decision to pause the rollout to meet the level of quality we strive for so that customers have the best experience possible with the newest version of BlueCruise.”

On the same token, The Blue Oval revealed that the final update for BlueCruise 1.3 has begun rolling out to 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E owners, though it will be staggered based on model year. For now, Ford has no additional information to share in terms of timing, but did tell owners to be on the lookout for the software update labeled IPMA-24.204.8.27.

As Ford Authority previously reported, BlueCruise 1.3 enables customers to stay engaged in hands-free mode for longer durations, as well as when navigating curves and narrow lanes. It also adds to the existing Lane Change Assist feature by allowing users to change lanes by simply tapping the turn signal, and once the path is clear, In-Lane Repositioning keeps the vehicle in its lane while subtly shifting its position away from vehicles in adjacent lanes.

  4. I love the BlueCruise 1.2 feature on my 2023 Lincoln Corsair GT, but I will not wait over a year to receive the 1.3 update. As I’ve stated previously, I will not pay a subscription fee for software that is not updated. If I don’t get regular updates (at least annually), then I will be selling the car and getting a Cadillac with Super Cruise. After a nearly 40 year career in IT, I understand the software updating process and deployment complexities. But in order to maintain customer satisfaction, they should simply delay the OTA update, and perform all the updates at the dealership until they perfect the OTA process. Sure that will cost more to the company, but the loss of customer satisfaction, along with losing actual customers like me will be far more costly to Ford and Lincoln!
