As Ford Authority has covered extensively in recent weeks, the 2025 Ford Maverick is set to receive a mid-cycle refresh that will introduce a handful of updates to the popular compact pickup. Thus far, most of those changes haven’t exactly rocked the proverbial boat, but there is one that quite a few folks aren’t apparently fans of – the revised front end design on the 2025 Ford Maverick. Thus, that begs the question – which front end do our readers like better, the one present on the current Maverick, or the one on the refreshed model?
In a previous poll from May, 59 percent of Ford Authority readers said that they aren’t fans of the front end design on the 2025 Ford Maverick, but in the weeks since then, we’ve spotted a few more prototypes out testing, giving us a better look at this notable update. At this point, we’ve now seen the 2025 Ford Maverick in multiple trims, each of which has a slightly different look up front, too. Regardless, the basic elements here seemingly remain the same, across the entire lineup.
The sporty, Lariat model shown above does feature a few differences versus other prototypes we’ve seen thus far, including a grille with vertical slats, plus a more aggressive lower section complete with fog lights. Otherwise, there are plenty of similarities here, including the revamped front bumper, which now extends up into the revised headlights, which has thus far been the most controversial change, it seems.
The same also goes for the Tremor Off-Road Package, too. As we can see here, this 2025 Ford Maverick Lariat equipped with that package sports the same wheels (albeit different tires) as the outgoing model – coupled with many of the same design elements – but it also features the same updated front end, which is quite a big departure from the existing Tremor.
Thus, we’re curious to hear which design our readers prefer, now that we’ve gotten a better look at the updated front end design on the refreshed 2025 Ford Maverick. Is the older look a superior one, or do you think that the design has improved with the mid-cycle update? Let us know which you prefer by voting in the poll below!
We’ll have more on the 2025 Ford Maverick soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Maverick news and non-stop Ford news coverage.

That grill just looks wrong
Agree
110% Agree with you Bob.
That 2025 is ugly. Looks like Ford is trying to make it look like a lightning, but
it did not work. Glad I have a 2023.
I waited for a 25 to get the hybrid awd. Now I’m waiting for them to fix the horrible front end. Don’t fix something that ain’t broke, dummies!
The new on is so much better. I always found the last one heavy-handed and cheap-looking.
I feel the new ones very cheap looking. They just replaced 25% of he headlight with plastic.
The Maverick has been s stunning success (esp. over the Hyundai) by looking like a “truck.” The consumer has spoken, and that is what they want.
Ford even emphasized this in the launch that it is not a car trying to be a truck, but a truck in its own right. And featured it in a lineup of all the other Ford pickups showing the family similarities in style.
Now they have broken w the rest of the Ford truck lineup and emasculated the front end to make it look like a Kia 🤦🏼♂️
The original is so much better looking.
A poor excuse for a truck IMO. 4.5′ box, 1500lb max payload and 4000lb max towing when configured the most expensive way there is. I don’t get the attraction.
Try 40 plus MPG with the hybrid. Just a handy little non gas guzzling truck. Suits me fine.
fits in a standard garage, payload is pretty decent for most people, it’s not a boat or trailer hauler more of a utility trailer, dirt bikes, jet skis etc hauler. and the pricing vs an f150 or even a ranger is very attractive. Oh and MPG! Sales don’t lie, many find this truck just right for their needs.
With the towing option it tows my 3900 lb boat and trailer just as well as my previous F150 fx4 off-road did and gets a little better gas mileage wile doing it.
I’m city folk. Ford Maverick is city truck. It’s not for farmers and construction people. It’s exactly what I want.
That Maverick payload beats most RAM 1500’s
No, it doesn’t. It’s slightly less than a full size truck. That’s great, but there isn’t any reason to make things up.
It’s not a full size truck.
You are wrong, Yes it does have more payload in some cases depending on which model of Ram 1500 you compare the Ford Maverick to. Look up the charts if you dont believe me…
I like not paying a Benjamin to fill up the gas tank, plus when your vehicle is as much or more than your house, I just don’t see the appeal.
I meant truck payment is as much as or more than a house
Love the darker grille, hate the bumper coming up and over the lights. Glad l have a 23 Lariat.
I have a 22 Maverick and I really like it’s front end style. The 25 looks like a month long design assignment a middle school art student did the night before it was to be turned in. Let’s just put plastic where the headlights should be?!?!? A pitiful attempt for a new look.
Both the green and red truck are fine. Either one much better than design mess that is the current one.
Love my 2022 maverick XLT. I like the blue or green new front better but the other colors look terrible. Needs to be somewhere in between the old and new.
Like what they did with the lower fascia and the addition of fog lights, but the center painted bumper making a U shape is not very aesthetic. Also with how thin the paint is on my ’23 Maverick, I wouldn’t want more painted area on the front of vehicle to collect rock chips and road debris.
Oh yea, the paint sucks. My 2022 has more big chips in the paint in less than 2 years than any truck I’ve ever owned. And I’ve been buying new Fords since 1984.
Ford is making so many mistakes with not only refreshes and dropping features (like on the new escape) but also with design language. They seem extremely confused and have no identity unlike their competitor. Not to mention the MSRP of their vehicles going through the roof…
I hate that afterthought looking light to light flap.
I have a 2023 maverick and behind the front bumper molding is a thick piece of steel underneath bumper molding make s it one of the most safer truck on the road today can’t say that about 2025 it looks so much cheaper hope they didn’t remove that off but they cut corners so it probably got cut out and if so I wouldn’t buy it 2025 .
That piece of plastic under the headlight looks like a flap of cardboard that wants to be cut off, give the vehicle a proper headlight and indicator, so much better.
Maverick was never the best looking truck and now Ford has made it even worst. I owned one like the truck but needed more so ended up with a Ranger. If Ford would have gave the maverick a mini F250 look like the 24 F250 that would have been so much better. Like dodge did with their Rampage small truck that looks like a Ram truck.
Love my 22 lariat, hate the look of the 25 front end, wheels are hideous.
I have a 23 Tremor I actually like the upgrade on the 25 Tremor front, it definitely looks better than all the other front ends.
Like to older front end fitment … Ford Maverick designers should have addresses the cargo bed problem … the problem is no matter what camper shell or tonneau cover you put on the back it leaks, period. Which is why we walked away from the Maverick and are looking at other vehicles … a station wagon type is more desirable for us as hauling a wheel chair is a primary concern. We were all in for the Maverick with the factory hard tonneau cover … but found it leaks water in the summer and snow found it’s way in during the winter. Waited two model years as we weren’t in a hurry to buy … Ford you lost us.
I think the Mav is locked in with the “Tusks” ’25 grille. I look for the Ali Baba vendors to come out with a solution
I like the older grill more the updated grill looks like a cartoon version of the Rangers grill
Had my 2023 Hybrid that I waited 700+ days for come with that grill, I would not have placed an order. Love my truck, but that is UGH!!
my vote is for the older front end. had a 22 xlt and it was a decent truck but nothing special. the interior dash appearance looks like a child molded it. made a 3 thousand dollar profit when I sold it. thank you, Ford. Joe Biden is a self serving dangerous hypocrite.
The target market for Maverick probably doesn’t overlap much with the readership of Ford Authority, so this poll is pretty irrelevant. Maverick is designed for younger buyers coming from Civics, Corollas, RAV4s, and CRVs.
They are not “truck people.”
The new 2025 grill rejection from so many would-be buyers may translate into less buyer competition and faster order-delivery timeframes for the rest of us!?! Would leaving the 2025 grill as is cut order-wait-time in half? Hint.
I liked the one that didn’t cost as much as all the other trucks. No more.
The different grills are okay, but the headlight cutouts look cheap and stupid. I might change my mind if I could actually take a close up look, but I doubt it.
I’ve been waiting one year and they still haven’t scheduled my order. Dealer called me last week and said Ford was going to build some Mavericks for the dealer’s customers. I think my chances to get one this year are about zero as I just received the usual order update “we’re still working to on you schedule build date”
The new one is not good, it looks like there’s something missing.
Have a ’24 Lariat Hybrid that’s FWD. Because of where I live in upstate NY, I was going to trade up to the ’25 Lariat. But after trying my best to get used to and accepting of that front end for a week, I just can’t. Had it set to see my dealer just this Monday when he got back from vacation, but called and said I’ve changed my mind and am passing on it. It looks like they found a scrap piece of metal laying around, slapped it on over the regular front, and said that’s good enough.
I’m glad I have the 2024 Tremor. Not sure I would have purchased the 2025 with the ugly front bumper. YUCK!
I like the new front, but I’m somewhat jaded. I replace a 2007 F150 Lariat with a 2020 Ranger XLT, lowered it 3″ at front, 6″ at rear so it “looked right” and was more accessible in my “advanced age”.
I had no idea the Maverick was coming out at that time. Earlier this year, bought a 2024 XLT Hybrid for my son, he absolutely loves it. I’ve driven it, and when the new nose and AWD being available as a hybrid, I bit and ordered a 2025 Lariat AWD with 4k tow package.
I have been driving for Explorers, F150 Lariat, and Ford Ranger XLT modified since 1992. I love my Fords, they have been dependable, comfortable and trouble free. I truly hope that tradition continues.
Love our 24 Lariat. Probably a mistake to change it. Look forward for a plugin version with the same look.
