Repainted 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT Up For Auction

With Ford Bronco values skyrocketing in recent years, it’s pretty difficult to find a decent example of any generation in nice condition, save for the newest sixth-gen, at least. Prior to that, the first- and second-generation Ford Bronco have become red hot collectibles worth boatloads of money, with numerous examples selling at auction on a regular basis. The latest is this – a very nice 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT that should prove appealing to a lot of Blue Oval fans.

This 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT is currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, and amazingly enough, was reportedly registered to the original owner until 2023. During that time span, the second-generation SUV was repainted in a nice combination of silver and black, joining a black removable fiberglass hardtop and a set of white 15-inch steel wheels wrapped with 32×11.5-inch Falken Rubitrek A/T 01 tires.

Inside the cabin, one will find a split-folding front bench and removable folding rear bench seat upholstered in black vinyl with patterned cloth inserts. Those seats are complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpeting, along with faux woodgrain trim accents on the dashboard coupled with amenities such as cruise control, a heater, and a Sony CD stereo. Power for the full-size SUV comes from the Ford 351 V8, which was originally rated to generate 156 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission.

In spite of its respray, we can certainly see this Ford Bronco selling for considerable money, given recent history. But while second-generation Broncos are all the rage these days, their predecessors continue to rake in huge sums as well. In that realm, we’ve seen some pretty amazing examples sell at auction as of late, including a 1977 model with a mere 9k miles on the clock, as well as an extensively-modified 1977 Bronco and another of that same model year that once belonged to comedian Kevin Hart.
