In addition to an endless stream of interesting, unique, rare, valuable, and oftentimes bizarre vehicles, we also routinely come across some pretty nifty automotive-related memorabilia up for grabs at various online auction sites. This typically includes things like signs, toy cars, or even original clay models from the past, but every now and then, we spot some furniture made from car parts, too. Now, that has happened yet again, this time, with components taken from a 1968 Ford LTD.
Currently up for grabs at the collector car auction site Bring a Trailer, this cool sofa is made from a variety of parts from a 1968 Ford LTD. It was put together by the seller’s business earlier this year, and now, it’s up for grabs, looking for a new home – where someone will presumably either use it as the sofa that it is, or perhaps just a cool display piece. It’s rather large, as one might imagine, measuring 80 inches wide by 30 inches deep and 35 inches tall, and it weighs roughly 250 pounds.
To put this sofa together, the seller used the rear body section, taillights, trim, and bumper components from a 1968 Ford LTD, with green-painted bodywork coupled with diamond-stitched brown leather upholstery. There are plenty of nifty details present here as well, including an illuminated license plate light and taillights, as well as bright trim, side-marker reflectors, lockable caster feet, and a control fob, to boot.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first Ford-based sofa that’s been auctioned off in recent months. This past February, another, similar unit also popped up for auction that utilized parts from a 1968 Ford Mustang, in fact, including the rear body section, taillights, trim, and bumper components from that particular pony car. That bodywork was then finished in a classic combination of blue with white stripes, and was accented by some chrome trim, to boot.
We’ll have more cool auction finds like this to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authorityfor ongoing Ford news coverage.
