1979 Ford F-150 Ranger Monster Truck Up For Auction

Ford pickups and SUVs from the 1970s have always been among the most popular of any brand to exist throughout the course of history, from the time they were sold new until now. The classic style of these vintage models is undeniably timeless, and we continue to see nice examples sell for big bucks at auction. However, this 1979 Ford F-150 isn’t exactly what one might call stock – though it is incredibly cool, regardless.

This 1979 Ford F-150 was converted into a legitimate monster truck back in 2008, an appropriate conversion given the fact that the monster truck’s roots began with Bigfoot decades ago. The modifications present on this F-150, however, are quite extensive, starting on the outside with new lime green and custom airbrushed multicolor graphics, a tilting dump bed, and 20-inch Weld wheels wrapped with gigantic 49-inch Interco Super Swamper IROK tires.

There’s plenty of room for those massive meats thanks to a custom suspension with long-travel leaf springs and shocks, revised leaf spring shackles, chrome rear ladder bars, and an elongated panhard bar and drag link. The interior is a bit more simple, fitted with Recaro buckets, three-point seat belts, AutoMeter gauges, a Grant steering wheel, and a JVC stereo system.

Pop the hood, and one will find a 460 cubic-inch Ford V8 that features a bevy of upgrades including a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, an MSD ignition system, and Hooker four-into-one headers that flow into a dual exhaust system. Overall, it’s quite an extensive build, and one that should appeal to anyone who’s ever wanted a monster truck of their own – which, quite honestly, is probably many of us.
