Ford trucks from the 1990s have exploded in popularity in recent years, piggybacking off the soaring prices of Blue Oval haulers from earlier years. As such, we see quite a few Ford trucks from this era surface for sale on a regular basis, and routinely sell for more and more money. However, most of those pickups are stock, though that certainly isn’t the case with this rather intriguing 1994 Ford F-350 XL dually brush fire truck.
This Ford F-350 fire truck is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer after spending a number of years serving the Estherville Fire Department in Iowa, and it has just 7k miles on the odometer as a result. As one might imagine, it’s equipped with a slew of upgrades to make it suitable for fighting fires, such as a Luvurne fire-service body, emergency lights, a generator, equipment cabinets, three top-deck hose beds, and a Hale 500x water pump powered by a 1.0L MA10 Nissan inline-four powerplant.
Peek inside the cabin, and one will find a mostly stock interior, save for the requisite Code 3 Model 3692 siren control module and a set of emergency light switches. Otherwise, it’s a simple setup, with a red vinyl bench seat, rubber floors, crank windows, and a heater, but really nothing else in the way of amenities.
Power for this Ford F-350 fire truck comes from the naturally-aspirated 460 cubic-inch V8, which was factory-rated to produce 245 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to all of the truck’s six wheels, courtesy of a dual-range transfer case. This cool piece of history has done its time in service – and even participated in some parades – but now, it’s looking for a new home – and we imagine someone will be more than happy to give it precisely that.
