1996 Ford Taurus LX Wagon With 72K Kilometers Up For Auction

In recent months, Ford Taurus models from pretty much every generation, trim, and configuration have been rising in value, all corresponding with increased interest from collectors, it seems. We’ve watched numerous nice, low-mile examples surface for sale and command increasingly large amounts of money at auction. Now, this very nice 1996 Ford Taurus LX wagon seems poised to join them, based on its condition and lower mileage total, too.

This 1996 Ford Taurus LX wagon is up for auction right now at Bring a Trailer, and it’s a pretty interesting Canadian-market example with 72k kilometers (44,738 miles) on the clock. It actually remained in the possession of a single family until the selling dealer acquired it in 2023, and as a result, it has no noted flaws marring its Silver Frost Metallic paint. It also remains completely original inside and out, looking pretty factory fresh, to boot.

Inside the cabin, one will find seats upholstered in gray cloth, along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and amenities including power windows, locks, and mirrors, a power-adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, and a cassette stereo with a CD changer. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated 3.0L V6 Vulcan engine, which was factory-rated to generate 201 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.

Of course, this is just one of several nice Ford Taurus wagons we’ve seen pop up for auction recently. That list includes a pristine 1999 Ford Taurus SE wagon with just 42k miles showing on the odometer, which hit the block last October looking good as new. That model was also essentially flaw-free, with nearly new Vibrant White Clearcoat paint and a Medium Prairie Tan interior, too.

Not a wagon person, but man, the 96-97 Taurus LX was a helluva car. That Duratec engine was a jewel.

I still prefer my second gen sedan, but the odd styling hid a very competent car underneath.
