After disappearing from the U.S. in 2012, the Ford Ranger wound up returning to those same shores for the 2019 model year – albeit, as a larger, mid-size pickup. In recent months, those last-gen compact Ford Ranger models have become increasingly common sights on collector car auction sites, with nice, low-mile examples seemingly coming out of the proverbial woodwork. Now, that list has expanded yet again, this time, to include a very nice 2009 Ford Ranger XL.
This particular Ford Ranger SuperCab XL is up for auction at Bring a Trailer, and it has just 22k miles on the clock – a very low number for any vehicle of this vintage. It’s a rather uncommon sight in this work spec trim as well, as most of these entry-level models were used and abused over the years, then discarded when their usable life was up. That certainly isn’t the case with this basic Oxford White pickup, however.
Rather, it remains in spectacular condition inside and out, and looks basically brand new everywhere one peeks. Of course, there aren’t many amenities here, save for black and gray cloth seats, a pair of rear jump seats, an AM/FM stereo, and air conditioning. Power comes from the 2.3L I-4 Duratec engine, which was factory-rated to produce 143 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
This incredibly clean 2009 Ford Ranger is just the latest example to surface for sale at auction, a list that also includes a 2003 XLT with just 13k miles on the odometer, a 2008 XLT with 17k miles, and a 2010 XLT with 16k miles – giving fans of the old compact Ranger more than a few solid choices in that regard.
