2024 Lincoln Nautilus Recalled Over Window Pinching Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2024 Lincoln Nautilus crossovers over a window pinching issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, when closing the windows with the global closing feature, the windows may not automatically reverse after detecting an object. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, “Power-Operated Window Systems.”

The hazards: a closing window may exert excessive force by pinching a driver or passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: power windows

Affected vehicles: select 2024 Lincoln Nautilus models built at the Changan Ford Hangzhou Assembly Plant that are equipped with the recalled Driver Door Module (DDM) and Passenger Door Module (PDM) introduced into production on September 26th, 2022 and taken out of production on August 5th, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 34,493

The fix: dealers will update the Driver Door Module and the Passenger Door Module software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on September 23rd, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24C24.

      1. Not a whole lot to be positive about in the automotive market these days, including Ford. Many have started calling this Malaise Era 2.0.

  2. I used to want a Nautilus, maybe in a few years. But now that Ford made the horrible decision to make these in China, they are completely off of my list. I spoke to a self rep who said that (at least in my geographic region), these things are firmly glued to the sales floor, ever since production moved to China.

    1. S/he’s wrong. They can’t keep the ’24’s in the show room. The earlier models arent moving, however. And no one wants the hybrids no matter what year.

      1. Righto. The few ’24s that have made it to the US from China ARE flying off the lots. To 20-somethings to get that techy dash. Problem is, they can’t afford them. Us older folks want a regular dash. This is about to happen next year to the new Navigator as well. All these teenagers creating tech at automakers assume we all want it, but, in reality, few do.

  3. Well, gee. Ford has only had anti-pinch power windows since 2001. Give them time.

  4. I thought everyone wanted pinching windows, now they want to discontinue them! Didn’t Ford just patent pinching windows?

  5. Endless recalls continue at Recall Motors aka Ford. Failure Farley’s job is still secure despite these endless recalls.
