Following its debut in early February, the 2025 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator entered production at the Chicago Assembly plant in May, and after the automaker’s quality checks were completed, both refreshed models began shipping to customers recently. Prior to that, Ford Authority was able to check out the luxurious 2025 Ford Explorer Platinum and the high-performance 2025 Ford Explorer ST up close and personal, giving us a detailed look at all of the changes present in those models.
Recently, we provided a comprehensive video tour of all of the exterior updates present on the 2025 Ford Explorer ST and the Platinum, as well as the overhauled interior of the ST, which was finished in Onyx and equipped with the new Ford Digital Experience software – not to mention some cool Easter eggs. Now, however, we’re taking a closer look at this very unique new colorway known as Mojave Dusk on this 2025 Ford Explorer Platinum. This particular offering has a distinct deep purple tint, combined with some silver metallic accents.
There are some very visually interesting patterns present in various places like the door panels and a portion of the seats, along with perforation for a more luxurious look. The 2025 Ford Explorer team told Ford Authority that the reason they went with such a deep purple hue known as Mojave Dusk is because they wanted to do something a bit different than the typical black, and it’s safe to say that they achieved that mission.
Otherwise, this 2025 Ford Explorer features the same sort of updates present in other models, which include a redesigned dash/cockpit area with a new 13.2-inch display, new air vents, a revamped center stack, and a new dash design, which helps add additional legroom up front. Soft materials were added to pretty much every common touch point in the cabin as well, giving it a more premium feel – coupled with some newly stylized hard trim pieces that add visual appeal as well.
We’ll have more on the 2025 Ford Explorer soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Explorer news and comprehensive Ford news updates.

Hyundai called, they want their Palisade grille back. I think they must have a whole department conceiving of every possible description for “Grey.” Not so long ago, If you picked up a new car with the door card as mismatched as the one in the video, you’d have wanted it replaced. now it’s an aspirational theme. Not.
So insightful.
