2025 GMC Terrain Debuts As All-New Ford Escape Rival

Ford’s cross-town rival General Motors has been churning out direct Blue Oval competitors for a very long time now, with its most recent update coming from the 2024 GMC Acadia, which brought forth a number of updates for the Ford Explorer rival in the three-row utility space. Now, those looking for a suitable Ford Escape alternative have an updated model from that same brand to consider – the 2025 GMC Terrain.

The 2025 GMC Terrain represents an all-new, next-generation version of that particular model, starting on the outside, where one will find a more rugged, truck-like appearance when compared to the outgoing Terrain. It also gets 17-inch wheels as standard, or larger, optional 20-inch units for the luxurious Denali trim, coupled with a two-tone black or gray roof option.

Peek inside the cabin, and one will notice that the 2025 GMC Terrain comes with a standard 15-inch infotainment screen and an 11-inch driver information screen, along with tech features including Google Assistant. Along with the typical array of driver safety features such as automatic emergency braking and front pedestrian detection, the 2025 GMC Terrain offers up niceties like heater wipers, 5G Wi-Fi, and eight different camera views.

As far as powertrains go, the 2025 GMC Terrain carries on with no changes in that department, meaning that its sole option is the turbocharged 1.5L I-4 LSD engine, generating 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Customers can choose from a variety of trims including the Elevation, AT4, and Denali, with deliveries slated to begin later this year with the Elevation (which comes standard with all-wheel drive), followed by the AT4 and Denali, which won’t launch until 2025 for the 2026 model year.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

The Chevy Equinox is the one to worry about, not this much pricier, upscale sibling. Escape was in do-do to begin with.

Combined, the Bronco Sport and Escape outsell these two. But thanks for your awesome insight. You forgot to mention how you never see these on the beach so they must not sell any anywhere ever.

I love my 2017 NightFall Terrain. However, you better have money lying around because it had to have a lot of diff things done to it. I test drove the 2024 and felt like I was in a tin can. The 2024 Cad caught my attention but lost out to the Ford Nautilus that I fell in love with. The inside huge tech screen sold me on the product. Still waiting for it to show up at my dealer. This part is starting to try my patience. Tick Tock

So, there ARE people dazzled by a big screen who pay attention to nothing else. I was wondering how they were planning on selling any.

Nautilus is made in China, no thanks. Probably sending information back to Xi as it’s being built.
