In the ultra-popular (and profitable) realm of crossovers and SUVs, Ford and its cross-town rival General Motors continue to launch refreshed and redesigned products as both clamor for market share. This includes the full-size SUV space, which has long been dominated by the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade, a group that does battle with the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Interestingly, all of these models are set to receive updates for the new model year, and the refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon has now been revealed in its entirety.
As covered extensively by GM Authority, the 2025 GMC Yukon is the last of that aforementioned full-size GM SUV lineup to be revealed, and it features a host of updates including revised exterior styling at the front and rear. The Yukon also gains a 24-inch wheel option for the first time on the Denali Ultimate trim, while the new Elevation trim has replaced the SLE and SLT as the new entry-level option. The AT4 Ultimate also joins the lineup as a more off-road-capable option with a front skid plate, 20-inch all-terrain tires, and an adaptive air ride suspension.
Inside the cabin, the 2025 GMC Yukon gets some new materials, along with a vertically-oriented a 16.8-inch center infotainment screen, plus an optional eight-inch diagonal touchscreen for second-row passengers. Powertrain options are largely unchanged and consist of the base 5.3L V8 L84 generating 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, as well as the 6.2L V8 L87 producing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. However, the outgoing LM2 diesel has been replaced by the 3.0L I6 LZ0 Duramax, which is rated to produce 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
With the refreshed 2025 Lincoln Navigator just being unveiled last week, it’s only a matter of time before the Expedition follows suit, marking the completion of this full-size SUV redo. As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2025 Ford Expedition is expected to sport exterior styling influences taken from the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 and 2025 Ford Explorer, and it will feature a split-rear liftgate as well, paired with some interior updates.
