2025 Mustang Challenge Schedule Revealed

The debut of the Ford Mustang Dark Horse R was followed by news that this same pony car racer was being joined by a brand new one-make racing series – the Mustang Challenge. The 2024 Mustang Challenge season is already well underway, with just a few races left on the calendar, in fact, and even Ford CEO Jim Farley himself has slipped behind the wheel for a stint. Now, the 2025 Mustang Challenge schedule has also been revealed.

The IMSA-sanctioned 2025 Mustang Challenge season is growing to six rounds and 12 races, plus a new, non-points Invitational round at Circuit de la Sarthe in support of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as Ford Authority previously reported. It all kicks off at Sebring International Raceway on March 12th-15th, followed by May 9th-11th at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the Le Mans Invitational on June 12th-14th, Road America on August 1st-3rd, Virginia International Raceway on August 22nd-24th, and Circuit of the Americas on September 5th-7th, while the final round will be announced in the near future.

The 2025 Mustang Challenge champions will get their choice of one of two prizes – $40,000 in cash, or a $100,000 scholarship toward a Mustang GT3 or GT4 seat the following year. Either way, those racers get to spend a test day in a Mustang GT4, regardless. Each race features a podium celebration for both classes, as well as prize money for those top three finishers. Those finishing second and third overall in the championship will also receive cash payouts of $20,000 and $10,000 respectively, while Dark Horse Legends champions will receive a cash prize of $20,000 or a test day in a Mustang GT4.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

I watched my first Mustang Challenge race yesterday, and it was very competitive! Looks like a fun series! KohR Motorsports campaigns three Dark Horse R’s in this series and a GT 4 Mustang in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series.
