Following its launch in various global markets, the redesigned 2024Â Ford Ranger arrived in North America earlier this year, once the automaker’s quality checks were completed. However, the new Ranger certainly has its fair share of competition in the rejuvenated mid-size pickup segment, ranging from the recently-updated Chevy Colorado to the redesigned Toyota Tacoma and several others. Now, the refreshed 2025 Nissan Frontier has debuted as well, a few years after that same model received a comprehensive redesign for 2022.
As such, the 2025 Nissan Frontier isn’t radically different than the outgoing model, but it does feature a new front fascia with a revamped grille, along with black plastic trim that extends up to meet that piece for a bolder, more aggressive look. The Pro-X and Pro-4X also get new black trim on the tailgate, new 17-inch wheels, and a new exterior color option dubbed Afterburn Orange.
Inside the cabin, one will find a restyled dash with a new, larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a standard telescoping steering wheel. Trim levels consist of S, SV, Pro-X, Pro-4X, and SL, but customers can now get the SV, Pro-4X, and SL in crew cab configuration with a six-foot bed. In terms of powertrains, all carry over with the same 3.8L V6 that’s rated to produce 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Pricing has yet to be announced, but deliveries of the 2025 Nissan Frontier are scheduled to begin this summer.
As for the Frontier’s rival, the Ford Ranger, it’s slated to gain the twin-turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine as part of Job 2 production. Thus far, the 2024 Ranger has garnered nearly universally positive reviews, even beating out the also-all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma in a recent comparison test, as well as the Chevy Colorado, so the 2025 Nissan Frontier will certainly have its hands full in this competitive space.

With Ford astronomically raising MSRPs and the inability to fix their infortainment system problems I’ll probably replace my 2019 Ranger with a Nissan Frontier.
Wait for the ’26 model Ranger w/ PHEV, you’ll appreciate the next model year updates.
Really like the Frontier especially with a non turbo V-6.
No hybrid or PHEV for either one? I’ll pass.
