Chaz Mostert Focused On Winning Title In No. 25 Ford Mustang

As the 2024 Australian Supercars Championship wears on, one driver has stood head and shoulders above the rest: Chaz Mostert, driver of the No. 25 Ford Mustang GT. While a Chevy Camaro currently holds down the points lead, Mostert is steadily chipping his way into the title fight, and he’s laser-focused on being atop the podium when the season wraps up in a few months.

As per a report from Supercars.com, Mostert took 198 points off Will Brown’s lead, reeling the driver of the No. 88 Camaro. He’s made a promise to his team – and fans – that he’s going to keep the pressure on throughout the rest of the season, and five consecutive podium finishes have helped position him as a serious title contender.

At Tasmania on August 17th and 18th, Mostert was the second-highest points scorer in the field. He placed second in Race 17 on Saturday and rallied to a fourth-place finish in Race 18 on Sunday despite a less-than-ideal spot on the grid. The current points gap that separates Brown and Mostert is the smallest it has been heading into the season’s longer “enduro” races since the 2018 season.

“Pretty awesome weekend, a great haul of points, today we made it a little bit harder for ourselves starting mid-pack but we stayed out of trouble and came out P4,” Mostert said after Sunday’s race. “Overall, super stoked with the weekend, a lot of data points for us to look over before we head to Sandown, let’s keep the pressure on.”

He added, “We have the weapon Leeroy [Holdsworth] back in the seat for enduros and we know he carries me most of the time through those events.”

The next Supercars race is the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, scheduled for September 13th through 15th.
