Nearly three years ago, Ford announced that Luz Elena del Castillo – who was the company’s General Director for Puerto Rico, Central America, and the Caribbean at that time – would be taking over as the CEO and president of Ford of Mexico, succeeding Héctor Pérez, who retired after nearly 30 years of service with the company. Castillo was well positioned to take over those reigns, given the fact that she has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry herself, but now, she’s passing the torch to someone else.
Ford Mexico has announced that Castillo has now decided to retire after three decades in the business, 16 of which were spent at The Blue Oval. Castillo has overseen some big changes during her time at the helm of Ford Mexico, with achievements including being named first in sales satisfaction by J.D. Power in 2024, number one in the 2023 Super Companies rankings, one of the best places to work for LGBT+ workers by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, third in the 2023 Employers for Youth rankings, and one of the top ten places for women to work in 2023 by Top Companies Mexico, to name just a few accolades.
Castillo will be replaced as president and CEO of Ford Mexico, Puerto Rico, Central America, and the Caribbean by Lucien Pinto, who has been with the automaker since 2000, when he began his career in manufacturing. Pinto rose up through the ranks and has spent time in positions including Manufacturing Planning and Logistics Manager, Production Manager, and Plant Manager, before moving to the commercial side of the business as director of operations for the Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD). He has also held the titles of Director of Marketing and Sales for that region, Director of Customer Service, and most recently led Ford’s marketing and sales team in that same region.
“It fills me with pride and emotion to assume the leadership and continue with the positioning of a company with a legacy that is about to turn 100 years old in the country and that today has a strategic role for the firm at a global level, standing out for its talent, quality and ingenuity,” Pinto said.
