Ford Digital Experience Gains New Road.Travel App

The all-new Ford Digital Experience software made its official debut back in January, and since then, has made its way into the redesigned 2024 Lincoln Nautilus, as well as the refreshed 2025 Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer. The automaker handled much of the development of this new software in conjunction with Google, and it’s centered around personalizing the experience for individual users, as well as adding more integrated apps and connected features. Now, the Ford Digital Experience has gained yet another new app.

That app is called Road.Travel, which Alex Blouin, Ford’s Senior Product Manager and Lead, IVI Third-Party Partner Applications discussed at length in a recent LinkedIn post. The concept behind Road.Travel is to make road trips a bit more enjoyable by using advanced location-based technology to play audio stories as users drive past certain points of interest along pre-planned trips. These stories – which are put together by travel guides and local experts – are short and informative, and are designed to be fun for the whole family, to boot.

Ford has already created exclusive routes and content in the Road.Travel app for Ford and Lincoln owners in what is the culmination of a relationship with Road.Travel that dates back to 2019. It was then that Ford Europe’s Make It Drivable competition was won by the company’s own Nikita Dedik, who wound up visiting Dearborn and forming a relationship with the automaker that has since resulted in the launch of this new app.

Regardless, this is one of many new applications that are designed to join the Ford Digital Experience software, which just added the Webex app back in March – which was developed by Ford and Cisco for conferencing and collaboration purposes that aim to enable users to work from anywhere, with seamless connectivity and immersive meeting experiences.
