In van-hungry Europe, Ford has long held several spots atop the sales charts, though over the past year-plus, the automaker has also revamped almost its entire van lineup as well. Those new models have thus far been met by continued sales success and plenty of critical acclaim, too. Back in May, the all-new Ford E-Transit Custom joined the lineup after its initial debut some months prior, and now, it’s up for a rather prestigious award itself.
That award is 2025 International Van of the Year (IVOTY), which is a distinction that the Ford Transit Custom took home last year. IVOTY judges just selected their shortlist for this year’s candidates, and it includes more than one Blue Oval model – the Ford E-Transit Custom, as well as the Ford Transit Courier, in fact. Those two models will duke it out with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Renault Master, and the Stellantis ProOne Large Van range, which includes the Fiat Ducato, Opel/Vauxhall Movano, Peugeot Boxer, and the Citroen Jumper/Relay, plus the Toyota Proace Max.
“This year, there were nine nominations, representing 15 light commercial vehicle brands, all in contention for the main prize,” said IVOTY Jury Chairman Jarlath Sweeney. “Ford has two finalists with the Ford Transit Courier and Ford E-Transit Custom, while the Stellantis Group has a multi-model representation through its ProOne Large Van range, while latest Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and all-new Renault Master completes the shortlist. Once again, as per last year, there was a mix of diesel, battery electric, and hydrogen powered vehicles on the long list.”
Now, IVOTY judges will enter the final election process by voting on an overall winner for what is the most prestigious, long-lasting award in the light commercial segment. The winner will be announced during the IAA Transportation “Night of the Stars” event set to take place at Messe Hannover in in Laatzen, Germany, later this year.

Ford makes the best trucks and VANS in the world!
This cargo van really needs to be brought to the usa. Have a full size transit and it doesn’t fit in parking garages. Connect was too small to hold equipment. Use a Metris now (discontinued), would so buy the Transit Custom.
