Ford EV Battery Plant Hater Vandalizes Michigan Business

It’s no secret that all-electric vehicles, in general, have been one of the most polarizing topics of recent years. Largely due to the politicization of these models, there’s a large divide between people that think EVs are the future and those that have grown to hate them for various reasons. Thus, it isn’t a huge surprise to learn that someone in the town of Marshall – which is where the under-construction Ford EV battery plant known as BlueOval Battery Park Michigan is being erected – recently decided to vandalize a business to express their distaste for that future plant.

According to the Battle Creek Enquirer, the Michigan State Police Marshall Post are currently investigating a malicious destruction of property complaint from a business located near the future Ford EV battery plant. “The suspects spray painted a derogatory message about the Ford plant on the side of heavy equipment along the road. The company that was victimized is not associated with Ford in any way,” MSP said in a news release. “There have been several complaints in the last few months where construction companies in the area have been vandalized in some way, similar in nature to this complaint.”

BlueOval Battery Park Michigan is no stranger to controversy, as lawmakers previously expressed concerns over FoMoCo’s decision to license technology from China-based CATL to make lithium-iron phosphate batteries there. Meanwhile, some local residents have also been fighting the future plant in court, attempting to bring a necessary rezoning to a public vote, but with little success thus far. Amid declining demand for EVs, Ford recently announced that it was cutting its planned output at the new plant, but it’s still on track to begin production in 2026.

As Ford Authority reported back in February, BlueOval Battery Park Michigan has also been “review bombed” by a number of detractors, and currently has a mere 2.2 stars on Google – even though the site isn’t complete, nor has production began.

Exactly. Ford Motor expanding & investing in USA while Stellantis, Toyota & GM laying off & closing facilities! Only newer Ford vehicles in my family’s driveway.
