The Ford Authority Take
Sales of the Ford Expedition family stayed ahead of its crosstown rival, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL duo, after accomplishing that feat for the first time in over two years last quarter. This is in spite of Expedition production deceasing in April, again in May, and also in June.
An update of Ford’s full-size three-row SUV is on the way for the 2025 model year as the Expedition family faces upcoming refreshed models from GM in the form of the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and the 2025 Chevy Suburban duo along with the 2025 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL family.
Even Toyota is taking aim at The Blue Oval’s flagship utility with the 2025 Toyota Sequoia 1794 debuting as a new Ford Expedition King Ranch rival.
About Ford Expedition
The 2024 Ford Expedition gains a new exterior color dubbed Wild Green as a no-cost option, along with the new Excursion Package, which adds floor liners, the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package and the Advanced Cargo Manager with black roof rail crossbars, along with suspension/drivetrain upgrades such as ControlTrac with eLSD, a 3.73-geared electronic limited-slip differential, and the Continuous Controlled Damping (CCD) system with suspension road preview. The 2024 Expedition gains one new exterior color, known as Wild Green, but ditches two colors, namely Infinite Blue Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Forged Green Metallic.
The upcoming 2025 Ford Expedition stands to offer a handful of changes for the soon-to-be-refreshed SUV, including 24-inch wheels, redesigned taillights, and some Range Rover-like styling aesthetics along with some F-150 and Explorer touches and a split liftgate.
Furthermore, its interior, spotted for the very first time, reveals a coast-to-coast display like that found in the all-new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. A potential Timberline has also been spotted, as well as the SUV’s front end and possibly with a tow package, plus a small but significant change.
Out in the wild, a prototype of the 2025 Expedition King Ranch shows off bronze wheels and LED lighting.
