The rise in popularity of both off-roading and off-road capable vehicles has been rather meteoric in recent years, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. It’s good thing for automakers looking to make a quick buck on what are, in some cases, nothing more than appearance packages designed to make a vehicle look more capable off the pavement, but also, a bad thing in that off-roading can be dangerous if one doesn’t know what they’re doing. Now, we’re seeing that latter phenomenon on full display via this recent and rather horrifying video involving a first-generation Ford F-150 Raptor.

In this video that’s been making the rounds on social media lately, we see that Ford F-150 Raptor pulling some sort of SUV, though it’s unclear what that particular model is. What we do know is that this appears to be taking place in China, judging by the front license plate present on the Ford F-150 Raptor. Regardless, it’s quite muddy out, to the point where the SUV seems to have gotten itself stuck – which is when the Ford F-150 Raptor driver attempts to free it using a recovery strap.
The Raptor driver has some trouble finding traction on the slippery mud as well, but decides to send it to compensate, with disastrous results. The SUV slides right into a giant ditch/sinkhole and rolls over multiple times, at which point the Ford F-150 Raptor driver hops out, flip flops and all, to see the carnage for himself. Hopefully, the person(s) in the SUV are OK, but the clip ends before we can see the aftermath.
In any event, this isn’t the first towing-related catastrophe we’ve seen in recent months – not by a long shot. Aside from watching a pontoon boat fall of a trailer being towed by a Ford F-150 a while back, we were also treated to a clip of a Ford Super Duty losing control while pulling its own trailer out on the highway just a few months ago.
