As Ford Authority previously reported, Ford Mustang Mach-E at the Cuautitlan Assembly plant in Mexico got off to a bit of a rocky start in January 2024, when that factory churned out precisely zero EV crossovers – a temporary shutdown that occurred as the automaker worked to expand capacity at the plant. Since then, Ford Mustang Mach-E production has experienced its fair share of ups and downs, as is normal in the automotive world, and that continued in the month of July as well.
According to Ford’s July sales report, Ford Mustang Mach-E production at the Cuautitlan plant declined from 5,347 units in June to 4,351 in July, which is a difference of 996 units, or around 18.6 percent. The Mach-E certainly wasn’t alone in that regard, however, as virtually every Ford model experienced some sort of production slowdown in July – a month when the automaker tends to implement summer shutdowns at certain plants.
In terms of sales, the Ford Mustang Mach-E enjoyed a 16.64 percent increase, year-over-year, to 4,592 units, while FoMoCo sales as a whole decreased 0.2 percent to 173,223 units in the U.S. Additionally, Ford’s electric vehicle sales totaled 8,242 units, which is up 31.2 percent compared to July 2023, a trend that has perpetuated for some time now as the automaker’s EV sales continue to grow.
Those shopping for a 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E will notice that the crossover has received quite a few notable changes as well. Those include the deletion of the Nite Pony Package, California Route 1, and GT Performance Edition (which has been replaced by a performance upgrade for the GT), and the addition of the MagneRide suspension as standard equipment for the GT, as well as the new Rally model. Additionally, the 2024 Mach-E lineup gets a new e-motor that results in more power and improved range, to boot.
