After production of the all-new S650 generation 2024 Ford Mustang began at the Flat Rock Assembly plant last year, the pony car has seen its fair share of ups and downs, as is common in the automotive world. In fact, Ford Mustang production kicked off the year in January by taking a big dip versus December, though it followed that up by increasing in February, declining in March, and dropping further in April before turning things around in May and decreasing yet again in June. Things took a dramatic turn for the worse in July, however.
According to Ford’s latest sales report, no Ford Mustang units were produced in July whatsoever, compared to 3,031 in June. As for why this was the case, it’s worth noting that this is typically the time of year when plants go on summer break. However, this usually encompasses two weeks, so it’s unclear why FoMoCo opted not to build any Mustangs last month, though it’s possible that inventory levels are high enough that it didn’t feel compelled to do so. Regardless of the reason, this is obviously the lowest production total for the Ford Mustang in the 2024 calendar year thus far, which was previously the case with June’s total.
In any event, the 2024 Ford Mustang ushered in an entirely new generation for the iconic, long-running pony car, bringing with it a host of updates as its competition has since largely disappeared. That includes updated exterior and interior styling, with a jet fighter-like cockpit filled with a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch Sync 4 infotainment screen running video game-inspired graphics.
As was the case with the S550 generation, the 2024 Ford Mustang can be had with either the 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost or the 5.0L V8 Coyote engines, though both have received some updates for the new year, and a more potent version of the latter can be found in the brand new, range-topping Dark Horse.
We’ll have more production figures to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Mustang news and ongoing Ford news coverage.

A big help here would be a correlation between orders and production. If the graph lines are parallel, than that could spell real issues for the Mustang as a viable product. If not, then just continued frustration for order placing buyers of whom I had many discussions with.
Ford keeps raising prices of the Mustang, no wonder no 0ne is buying them, my local dealer has one for $47,000 that they can’t sell.
True, they’re more expensive but there a variety of other factors not the least of which is operating cost like insurance which I expect is higher than a corvette in so areas. Gas isn’t cheap either. Let’s face facts. It a young person’s car and they are starting to care less. And I’d look to see EVs pick up since teslas chargers can be used. In any event it’s no one thing but a variety of things.
Will these Mustangs for July be a “Limited Edition”?!
lol, 1 of 1 produced in July so it will be commanding prices higher than GT350Rs and GT500 CFTPs on BaT.
The scam to increase cost of ICE vehicles to equal the EV is well underway.
Ford owners, enthusiast’s alike: Are we going to let Dodge take the leadership role for the pony/sports car title?! But: heck?! If i was to get/want a Ford product that sit’s as low as a coupe or sedan would be a classic Ford F150 SVT Lightning; myself!?
Isn’t the Charger / Challenger going away for an EV?
Supposedly, the new Charger/Challenger will be available with either as an EV or ICE.
Charger/Challenger/300 are already gone…ended production last December
Stellantis ended production of Charger/Challenger/300 December 2023
I researched the pricing of a EV STANDARD battery pack IS $5,500.00! iN ORDER TO BUY A UPDRADED/UPDATED/PERFORMANCED EV could be much greater; thanks in not part to “CHINA” trying to steal information via turning down, side-stepping TERIFF’s!!
With the costs of vehicles going up higher and higher, there is a point, where people’s range in buying vehicles, starts to decline, because with higher prices that keep climbing, one feels he cannot afford something that goes up so high, it places no value on buying a new vehicle! That’s why used vehicles are now so popular and if the new vehicles keep going up every year, past ones cost of living, new vehicles will not be affordable and it seems Ford is doing just that and other vehicle manufactures too! Soon the only ones who will be able to, are the rich or those who make a very good salary!
The problem is this Government in office. They keep raising everything even taxes we pay. If you look at reality houses are now costing less then vehicles. Can get a 60k dollar house that was built in the 60s. SUVs and some Car’s cost the same now or more way more. People are slowly waking up to this figure.
Imagine believing that “the Government” sets prices….
Weird.

I think the bloom is off the rose for the S650. Most who had to have this what is basically a S550 face lift have bought one. After seeing a number in the flesh I think the S550 was a more attractive vehicle at a more reasonable price for its target demographic. Combine the unloved new instrument panel with the Eco Boost model that no one seems to want and I don’t see sales increasing much.
I went to the Ford Stealership they wanted 60k to 65k for a Mustang with the added addendum mop and glow sticker added. Way too much I refuse to buy one at that price. They want us to pay for their financial problems brought on by themselves with poor designs and quality.
FRAP was down for 6 wks due to engine production breakdown. Had nothing to do with sales.
Idk about 2024. However, just last week I placed my order for my 2025 GT premium in Molten Magenta tri-coat metallic. Maybe they’re re-tooling for the 2025’s? My dealership said I should expect delivery @ December this year, or January 25. Either way, I can’t wait ❣️❣️❣️
I ordered my 2024 GT and I am worried They may not produce it! I know the prices went up on 2025 and changed in packages so I am worried. I ordered it a month ago and got approved. It’s in ” processing” status and now I heard no Mustang was produced in July. I don’t know who to ask about my Mustang and if it will be made!
I ordered my GT Premium on April and mine was in processing until the first week in June then it went pretty fast. It was delivered July17.
Mustang is a dead man walking.
No, they’re just overpriced die to the huge auto bubble that’s about to burst. People without money can’t buy cars. Even people with money can’t buy cars that are outside of their means. I like a few years ago when you could STILL get financed with $20k negative trade equity. It’s why the manufacturers (especially Stellantis) think they could get away with continuing to bump prices.
Nope but the Camaro and the Chargers, Challengers, along with the 300 are Dead. These vehicle’s don’t exist.
sad about the Camero, I will never buy another chrysler/Stellantis Vehicle again, ever!. The mustang seems to be the last real muscle car left standing and for good reason. I can’t stand what they did to the Mustang with EV and call it a Mustang but to each their own.
Maybe they would sell more if they didn’t keep pushing the prices beyond the means of the rapidly shrinking American middle class. Remember when the Mustang was a Secretary’s car? An affordable sporty 2 door for the common man?
The bubble is going to burst soon. We can all see Stellantis is about to implode.
The car will continue to struggle in sales because the car isn’t TUNABLE… When Ford unlocks the PCM, sales will increase. Why would anyone traded their 2015-2023 for a car that can’t be tuned. Not to mention, the 2025 is getting a price increase.
I ordered my 24 GT premium May 29th, got a production schedule June 16th with a vin and projected build week of 8/19/24. How can Ford not produce a single Mustang when there are orders to be filled? what about dealers, are there no dealers with orders for inventory? I do not get it and Hope my scheduled production week (this week) is not pushed out due to no Mustangs built in the Month of July, I will balk on that and possible back out of the order. I only put up $500 to order the car.
