Ford has been making and selling vehicles for a very long time now, but it has also dabbled in the business of publishing over the years, too. In fact, the automaker distributed its own magazine for a number of years, printed cookbooks back in the 1950s, and created a handful of kid’s coloring books just a few years ago as a way to give them something to do while on road trips. Now, Ford is once again offering up a collection of children’s books via a new partnership.
That partnership is with Penguin Young Readers, a division of Penguin Random House, with four children’s books set to release over the coming months that are inspired by fan-favorite vehicles from The Blue Oval. The collection kicks off with The Good Night Truck on August 27th, which is written by Charlie Moon and illustrated by Jen Taylor that tells the tale of a slow drive in the family Ford truck as it lulls a baby to sleep at the end of the day in a small town.
On November 5th, the next book in that series – Ford: Road Trip!, a board book with wheels that’s shaped like a Ford truck – is slated to launch, and it’s written by Gabriella DeGennaro and illustrated by Yi-Hsuan Wu. It’ll be joined by two other releases on that same day – both written by DeGennaro and illustrated by Emilie Lapeyre – dubbed Ford: Numbers and Ford: Colors that are aimed at younger readers between the ages of one and three that are in the process of learning those types of things.
“Beyond their tremendous cars and trucks, Ford’s commitment to help build a better world aligns with Penguin Young Readers’ own purpose of creating books that make a difference for every reader,” said Daniel Moreton, Vice President and Publisher for brands and licenses at Penguin Workshop. “From bedtime stories to concept board books and more, this series truly has a book for every young Ford fan, and we can’t wait to share them.”
We’ll have more on these new books soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for 24/7 Ford news coverage.
