Shortly after the all-new, sixth-generation Ford Bronco debuted for the 2021 model year, the automaker was also hard at work rolling out racing versions of the rugged SUV for a variety of off-road events. Those include the King of the Hammers off-road race, where The Blue Oval has competed in both the Ultra4 4400 unlimited class and 4600 stock class for several years now, racking up multiple podium finishes in the process. Now, the Ford Performance Racing School is embarking on its own Bronco-related journey as well.
Ford Performance Racing School instructor and Baja champion John Williams will compete in the upcoming Best in the Desert race, which is set to take place on August 16th. That particular event spans 500 miles of rugged terrain between Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada, offering up an array of surfaces including sand and rocks. Williams will be behind the wheel of the FPRS Race Bronco for that grueling event, fresh off an impressive showing at the 2024 King of the Hammers race.
In fact, William finished fifth at the 2024 King of the Hammers, and also wound up ranking first in his division at the Mint 400, so he’s clearly ready to tackle this latest challenge. However, he wasn’t the only Ford driver to pilot a Bronco to an impressive finish at the most recent KoH race, either.
Rather, Brad Lovell secured his third consecutive pole position at the 2024 King of the Hammers race, and fellow driver Bailey Cole wound up earning his very first 4600 class crown by the time the dust settled – the third consecutive first-place stock class finish for the Ford Bronco 4600. Loren Healy and Vaughn Gittin Jr. – who took home the win the past two years – wound up finishing second, to boot.
We’ll have more on the Ford Performance Racing School soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Bronco news and continuous Ford news coverage.
