Essentially from the day it launched a few years ago, the Ford Puma has remained on the list of Europe’s best-selling new vehicles, and that’s also true of the UK, specifically. There, the Puma was the best-selling new vehicle, period, over the first half of 2024, in fact, racking up 26,374 sales and giving it a healthy 2,235 unit lead over the second-place Kia Sportage. That success continued somewhat into July as well, though the Ford Puma wasn’t the top seller over that time period.
According to new data from The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Limited (SMMT), The Blue Oval sold a grand total of 3,418 Ford Puma crossovers in June, which ranked it third, behind the Sportage (3,999 units sold) and the Nissan Qashqai (3,633 units sold). However, the Puma remains atop the UK’s sales charts year-to-date, racking up 29,792 sales in the first seven months of the year – just ahead of the Sportage at 28,138 units sold.
As for UK new vehicle sales in general, those grew by 2.5 percent to 147,517 units in July, marking 24 months of consecutive increases. That was also the best result in this particular month since 2020, which also happened to be when dealers reopened following a four-month lockdown after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ford Puma was just threaded to a refresh revealed this past February, ushering in a few updates for the popular crossover. The 2024 Puma only features a few small exterior styling updates, including new headlights, though inside the cabin, it gains a larger 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster and 12-inch infotainment screen running SYNC 4 software. In terms of powertrains, the 2024 Ford Puma comes with the 1.0L I-3 EcoBoost gas engine paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system to generate either 125 PS (153 horsepower) or 155 (153 horsepower) PS, or 170 PS (168 horsepower) for the Puma ST Powershift model.
