Ford Ranger Production Decreased In July 2024

Production of the 2024 Ford Ranger at the Michigan Assembly plant has experienced its fair share of ups and downs over the course of the current calendar year, much of which was driven by quality checks that delayed deliveries for a while after production of the redesigned pickup initially began. However, things took another turn for the worse in the month of July, though there could be a very good reason for that.

According to FoMoCo’s July sales report, Ford Ranger production totaled 3,982 units last month, which is 2,715 units or just over 40 percent fewer than June’s total of 6,697 pickups. Ford Ranger production in June also declined by around five percent compared to May, and was the lowest figure in the 2024 calendar year to date – at least, until July. Regardless, July is typically when Ford shuts down some of its plants – for up to two weeks in some cases – due to summer breaks, so that may have something to do with this drop, not to mention the July 4th holiday.

As Ford Authority previously reported, even as production of the all-new 2024 Ford Ranger began early in the year, none were delivered until later on, due to the aforementioned quality checks. That has since changed, as the new Ranger is populating dealer lots, although models powered by the 2.7L V6 EcoBoost haven’t yet surfaced from MAP – rather, that new addition to the mid-size model won’t arrive until later this year.

In addition to that new engine option, the 2024 Ford Ranger has received a bevy of updates as part of its redesign. Along with all new interior and exterior styling, the Ranger gets a revamped suspension, a longer wheelbase, various new tech features, plus screen options that include a standard 8-inch digital instrument cluster or optional 12.4-inch unit, along with a standard 10.1-inch or available 12-inch center infotainment screen running Sync 4.

I ordered a 2.7 in early/mid June. I was recently told it would be built on or around Sept. 7. Here in Canada I do a dealer scan and I see about 6 rangers with 2.7 being advertised by dealers but they all say “incoming” unit. I have also noted that doing search engine searches and You Tube searches, nobody appears to have actually driven one yet. So while they were available to be ordered as early as May 2024, it looks like they may not be delivered until September or October. I drive what could be called a “summer car” so I will probably have to keep it until next year now to get best selling price. Oh wells.

In addition to that new engine option, the 2024 Ford Ranger has received a bevy of updates as part of its redesign. Along with all new interior and exterior styling the MSRPs have went up immensely the real reason production is down.
